A day to remember in two halves
Our Christmas gift to our 3 daughters and their boyfriends was a surprise day, in two halves, centred on the Private Reserve at Desert Springs. Under the expert guidance of Kristina, we arranged a host of treats.
1st Half
The First Half started with a one hour golf lesson with Colin for us all, followed by a one hour Mountain Bike ride for the men with Jim Gordon, Desert Springs own sports co-ordinator.
Once they were out of sight, we ladies had a half hour massage session each with Karen, at The Day Spa @ Desert Springs, located in the Herencia Country Home, which forms part of The Private Reserve, together with use of the other facilities to be found there; the private work out area, the Jacuzzi and sauna suite. Strawberries and champagne were also provided and were very much appreciated.
When the men returned from their bike ride, they went on into the snooker room, and with Jim making up the numbers, enjoyed a session with the private bar facilities at their disposal. A quick Jacuzzi and sauna session was squeezed in for the men as well.
2nd Half
We moved across to the Residencia, the second luxury Country Home in The Private Reserve, for the evening, having arranged for the BBQ to be lit ready for us with meat, fish salads and sumptuous desserts supplied. We found all these in abundance in the
fridge, and then went downstairs into the Bodega for our cocktail hour. The Resort’s signature cocktail was called Desert Bubbles, and having mixed it ourselves according to the instructions, we found it to be superb, and to be highly recommended for all such special occasions. Once the food was cooked, we moved to the dining room, already laid up for dinner. Together with a roaring log fire, it was magical!
The 'pièce de resistance' was a small private cinema, down in the basement, to which we moved with full stomachs and a glass of wine. With the traditional bags of popcorn to add to our delights, we watched a film of our choice until it was time to go at 11.00pm.
It was certainly a day to remember, and it could not have been more perfect.
We repeated the whole day, a week later, with some friends, who had flown out to celebrate New Year with us, and their verdict was:
“We may now be back in the UK with rain and wind daily,
but we have not stopped talking about our wonderful
day at Desert Springs.”
Thanks to all the team; Kristina, Karen, Colin, and Jim.
