Action back off the beach

There is a full range of social, cultural and sports activities to pursue and enjoy.  Almost all of these and more can be organised on your behalf from the Desert Springs Resort Information Centre.  Here are some of them, but for more information on both these and lots of others, please go to the Things To Do section at the top of the page.

Golf

At Desert Springs on the superb world class Indiana Championship Desert Course, also at Valle del Este (15 minutes), Cortijo Grande (20 minutes), with La Manga and Almerimar less than two hours away.

Tennis

At the Sierra Club in Desert Springs, at Club La Mata which also has squash courts, the Vera Tennis Club and in Palomares.

Trail riding and horse riding lessons

At Cuevas del Lobo, Cabrera and Cortijo Kupanda; exhilarating in this rugged wild countryside.

Sailing

Sailing this unknown coast is exciting with the opportunity to sail close in against a backdrop of mountains rising straight from the sea. Lots of isolated beaches, for overnight mooring and good marinas at Garrucha, Aguillas and San Jose, plus two tiny harbours at Villaricos.

Golf Academy

Targeted driving range, putting and chipping greens, fairway bunker, state of the art video analysis facilities and qualified P.G.A. instruction at Desert Springs, former Overseas Home of the English Golf Union and currently Overseas Home of the Welsh Ladies Golf Union.

Waterpark

The Oasis, on Vera beach, includes a children's pool, wave pool and some amazing tubes including a very Black Hole.

Nightlife

Mojacar specialises in really good outdoor discos - Pashas,  Master and others and there are plenty of special late night bars - Budu, Delfos, Time and Place, Museo in Garrucha, Casa Verde  and Tadeos in Villaricos are amongst the best.

Shopping

There is plenty of good shopping in Vera and Garrucha, particularly for interior and decorative items. The Parque Commercial in Mojacar is also excellent.

Fitness

At the Daley Thompson mentored Sierra Club in Desert Springs, there is an aerobic gymnasium, a jogging track with trim trail, exercise steps, Boxing Bob and Junior and a great pool to cool off in.

Beauty and Massage

At The Day Spa @Desert Springs, Karen Kelliher offers a super range of Elemis based treatments in luxurious surroundings.

Speleology Caving at Sorbas in one important karstic limestone Europe. Flora and Fauna In spring, the countryside is scattered with wild flowers and the bird life is more African than European with Hoopoes, Rollers, Bee­eaters, Eagles and many other birds of prey. Walking and biking Paradise all around; hundreds of miles of trails and tracks through the surrounding mountains, plateaus and valleys.
