Golf Course Summer opening Hours |
Desert Springs Golf Club has today announced its summer opening hours applicable through to 15th September 2009.
Golf Reception will be open from 09.00hrs – 19.00hrs and the Caddy Master Office and Golf Academy practice facilities from 08.30hrs – 20.30 hrs.
The first tee time for the Indiana course available for reservation for members will be 09.07 hrs.
Director of Golf, Simon Coaker remarked:
“The pattern that has emerged over recent years for golf rounds played during the summer months shows that the majority of rounds played commence from 09.30hrs onwards, and in particular once the heat of the day has subsided, during late afternoon.
The published seasonal offers had been designed to reflect this fact and to further encourage use of the golf course during certain periods, in particular from later in the day once the heat subsides in the summer.”
As always, simply reserve your tee time in advance or come to the golf reception in the Clubhouse to register in the normal manner and enjoy the summer!

Non Resident Members Extra Rounds, Members Guests & Non Member Property Owners Summer Green Fee Offers 2009 |
Desert Springs has today introduced an improved ‘Summer Madness Green Fee’ offer for single players and 2-balls for all reservations made after 13.00 hrs through to 15th September 2009.
Director of Golf, Simon Coaker remarked:
The published seasonal offers were designed to encourage use of the golf course during certain periods, when use is bound to be low, i.e., from mid afternoon and towards dusk in the autumn and winter and during the heat of the day in the summer.
The introduction during April and May of the ‘Sundown Green Fee’ worked well, providing a steady increase in the number of rounds played in line with the offer.
We now wish to encourage the same for the period 1st June through to 15th September.
As previously, the introduction of the ‘Summer Madness Green Fee’ also provides the extra incentives of these rounds being accounted for as half a round only for Non-Resident Members or attracting free use of a golf buggy for Resident Members.
In all circumstances these rates are less than those applicable to the public, including golf societies.
Desert Springs has today posted the updated copy of the ‘2009 Non Resident Members Extra Rounds, Members Guests & Non Member Property Owner Green Fee Offers’ in the Members section of our web site here. Copies can also be obtained from Golf Reception.
As always, to take advantage of the benefits offered, simply reserve your tee time in advance or come to the golf reception in the Clubhouse to register in the normal manner and enjoy!

Non Resident Members Extra Rounds, Members Guests & Non Member Property Owners Green Fee Offers 2009 |
Desert Springs has today introduced a ‘Sundown Green Fee’ for all reservations made after midday through to 31st May 2009.
Director of Golf, Simon Coaker remarked:
As announced in January, the published seasonal offers were designed to encourage use of the golf course during certain periods, when use is bound to be low, i.e., from mid afternoon and towards dusk in the autumn and winter and during the heat of the day in the summer.
To date this had worked well and we have been pleased to see a steady increase in the number of rounds played in line with these offers which has resulted in creating not only activity on the course but also a great atmosphere at the Club. We now wish to encourage the same for the period through to 31st May.
As previously, the introduction of the ‘Sundown Green Fee’ also provides the extra incentives of these rounds being accounted for as half a round only for Non-Resident Members or attracting free use of a golf buggy for Resident Members.
In all circumstances these rates are less than those applicable to the public, including golf societies.

Desert Springs Announces 2009 Club Elections |
The fifth annual election for members to choose a Vice-captain and two members each for the Club’s Handicap and Competition Committees, for the period 1st April 2009 through 31st March 2010, is announced.
Since April, 2005, Club Officers have been elected annually from and by Members to work with the management of the Club. It has enabled willing Members to participate to a greater extent in both golfing and Membership aspects of the club and to engage directly as elected representatives with its operators and owners. An important objective has been to provide an approachable, open and official channel of communications between Members and management and to provide a representative grouping of Members and management, where focussed and informed discussion of issues, proposals, possibilities and solutions could take place in a positive manner. This has worked well and has led to better understanding and improvements and enjoyment for all at Desert Springs.
Ultimately the representative structure of the membership depends on Members’ willingness to allow their names to go forward, to devote time to represent the views of others, as well as their own, and to work constructively with management where measured debate can flourish. Members have demonstrated this willingness previously with positive progress and we sincerely hope that the same will be true of these elections.
A ‘Desert Springs Golf Club Officials Election Nomination Form’ has been sent to all members. They are also available at the Clubhouse reception and an e-mail form has been posted on our web site in the Owners section at http://www.almanzora.com/en/homes/purchasing/special_notices_info.php
All completed nomination forms must be returned by hand, e-mail, fax or post to the Club Secretary to arrive no later than 18.00 hrs on February 28th. We shall be letting you know during this period the names of those nominated from time to time, as we believe that this will assist in the process and remove uncertainty as to whether anyone has been nominated for any particular role already.
Immediately after that date, each member will be sent a ‘Voting Form’ identifying those persons going forward for election to each position. This form will also be available at the Clubhouse reception and on the web site in the Owners section.
All completed voting forms must then be returned to Desert Springs by 18.00 hrs on March 31st, again by hand, e-mail, fax or post for the attention of the Club Secretary. Following the verification of the validity of the voting forms submitted and their counting, the number of votes received for each candidate will be published identifying the names of the successful candidates, elected by the membership.

New Year Resolution to Get Fit! |
Did you promise to get fit in the New Year? After the festive season, one of the most common resolutions people make is to improve their overall health and physical fitness.
What better way to start 2009 than with a work out, using state of the art equipment at the Sierra Sports and Fitness Club? It is important to find a comfortable exercise environment and the gymnasium at the Sierra Sports and Fitness Club is just such a relaxed and pleasant place to tone up. It is light and airy and you are assured of an informed and warm welcome.
Jim Gordon, our resident Sports Manager, will guide you in proper cardio, strength and toning techniques that you can use throughout the year. Jim says “If you work out too hard especially to begin with, then sooner or later you are going to get discouraged and that is the easiest way to break your resolution. The best way to ensure you don’t fall off the wagon is to start slow and gently work yourself into it”.
Besides the fully equipped gymnasium, spin classes are also available at the Sierra Sports and Fitness Club. Spinning is a fun, individual or group workout to great music, suitable for all levels and abilities. Jim will coach you for 45 minutes, helping you match the tempo of the music with the terrain, whether hill climbing, racing or simply pedalling. Spinning is a really great workout for improving aerobic and anaerobic strength, whilst burning up to 900 calories an hour. Workouts, performed indoors on stationery cycles, can be enjoyed
all year round whatever the weather!
Why not indulge in the facilities at the Day Spa @ Desert Springs located in the Herencia at the Reserve Privée after your workout; beginning the New Year as you mean to go on – by cleansing both the body and the mind with a combination of a fitness routine and spa treatments.
Karen, our qualified and experienced health and beauty therapist, provides a wide range of luxury treatments which are tailor made to suit individual needs. Options that can keep you healthy and happy include an enjoyable body wrap to detoxify and deep cleanse the body inside and out or a relaxing massage focusing on specific muscle tension and stress. Non Resident Members Extra Rounds, Members Guests & Non Member Property Owners Green Fee Offers 2009 |
Desert Springs has today posted the ‘2009 Non Resident Members Extra Rounds, Members Guests & Non Member Property Owner Green Fee Offers’ in the Members section of our web site at http://www.almanzora.com/en/homes/locations/gc_membership.php. Copies can also be obtained from Golf Reception.
Director of Golf, Simon Coaker remarked:
"First introduced last year, this publication is intended to simplify the special offers concerning green fees for members and their guests and present them in a simple and user friendly format.”
The seasonal offers are ultimately designed to encourage use of the golf course during certain periods, when use is bound to be low, i.e., from mid afternoon and towards dusk in the autumn and winter and during the heat of the day in the summer. The green fees offered for these periods are intended to compensate players for using the course at times when weather conditions are less than perfect.
However, the present spare capacity on the course at certain times of the day, and year, has for the time being enabled these offers to be extended in season, e.g. in January and December, as well as providing the extra incentives of these rounds being accounted for as half a round only for Non-Resident Members or attracting free use of a golf buggy for Resident Members.
The year-round Non Resident Members Extra Rounds offer of up to 35 extra rounds is intended to smooth the transition from the end of the 40 rounds included in the individual membership package, up to the point where full Resort Resident Membership becomes a more economic way of playing.
In all circumstances these rates are less than those applicable to the public, including golf societies.
The offer of green fees discounted from the public rate for Non Member Property Owners is intended to recognise the special relationship of all property owners at Desert Springs with the golf course, even though they do not play enough to warrant being a Member.
To take advantage of the benefits offered, simply reserve your tee time in advance or come to the golf reception in the Clubhouse to register in the normal manner and enjoy!
