Between Thursday, 8th to Saturday, 10th October 2009, Desert Springs was host to the Sir Ian Botham Charity Golf Series Grand Final for the third year in succession. A host of sporting celebrities & legends from the world of Golf, Tennis, Football, Atheletics, Cricket and Rugby were in attendance to support the event and to help raise funds for Leukaemia Research including; Sir Ian Botham, David Lloyd, Martin Poxon, Vinny Samways, Steve Richardson, D.J. Russell, Paul Way, Jeremy Lloyds, & Steve Cram MBE.
Gaunty carried out his live broadcast from the Clubhouse at Desert Springs on Thursday 8th and Friday 9th October. Gaunty interviewed Sir Ian Botham and some of his celebrity friends including David Lloyd who were at Desert Springs competing in Sir Ian's Charity Golf Classic to raise funds for Leukaemia Research. Gaunty caught up with ex professional footballer Vinnie Samways who says Beckham deserves to play for England. Former tennis ace David Lloyd gave his view on Andy Murray snubbing the Davis Cup, plus his tips on holiday home investments. Legendary athlete Steve Cram MBE also joined Gaunty to talk sport, saying there should be a range of penalties for drug offences in sport and professional golfer and former Ryder Cup contender Steve Richardson gave his view on the golfing world today.
