DESERT SPRINGS RESORT & GOLF CLUB

Here is what some of the Ryder Cup Players, who have played the Indiana Course at Desert Springs have had to say about it:

Ian Woosnam OBE

Ryder Cup 1983-1997, Winning Captain 2006, US PGA Masters Winner 1991, No 1 in World Golf Rankings 1991, World Match Play Winner 1987, 1990, 2001, World Cup, 1989, PGA Grand Slam of Golf, 1991, 29 European Tour Wins

"Having last been here in 2004, the first thing I noticed was how mature the landscaping had become. It's a course that provides you with a test for every shot you have in your bag. The course is in immaculate condition with greens of equal quality to those we play our own tour events on. If you want to hone your game, immaterial of what standard of golfer you are, then this is the place to come!"

Steve Richardson

Ryder Cup 1991, Alfred Dunhill Cup 1991 & Winner 1992, World Cup 1991 & 1992, Four Tours World Championship Winner 1991 & 1992

"Desert Springs is a very stimulating test of golf. It is a thinking mans course, not easy to overpower but one that requires excellent course management skills. I really enjoyed it and felt it tested my skills fully".

Paul Way

Ryder Cup 1983 & Winner 1985, Dutch Open Champion 1982, British PGA Champion 1985, and European Open Champion 1987

"I actually found myself hitting my driver a lot at Desert Springs. It is a course that demands accuracy and thought but it does allow you to attack and make birdies. I found it a superb looking course and in top class international condition. It is a genuine test".

Peter Baker

Ryder Cup 1993, Ryder Cup Vice Captain 2006, Alfred Dunhill Cup 1993 & 1998, World Cup 1998, Benson & Hedges International Open Champion 1988, Dunhill British Masters 1993

" Loved the course; a proper shot making course. I made loads of birdies, which was great, but I got penalised for bad shots. That's the way the best courses treat you. One of the most refreshing courses I've played in along time and one I look forward to re-visiting, I don't think it would ever be boring".

DESERT SPRINGS RESORT & GOLF CLUB

From: Sir Ian T Botham

Both throughout my playing career and after, I have been privileged to have been invited to participate in numerous golf events at some of the most luxurious locations all around the world.

Hosting your own event, in your own name, for the charity of which you are President can be a daunting task. Certain criteria have to be met by the host venue both for the celebrity guests and the amateurs.

Desert Springs as a venue offers my guests a relaxing ambience, a unique experience and an underlying overall charm. It has lots of quality facilities to enjoy besides world class golf. Its staff afford a warm welcome and unrivalled professional service

That is why my decision to host the Ian Botham Charity Golf Classic in aid of Leukaemia Research at Desert Springs in October 2008 was an easy one and due to its phenomenal success, why I have selected Desert Springs to host the final of my next Charity Golf Series.

Tony & Pips Fernandez, the happy and proud owners of 138 Las Sierras III, a new Colonial Townhouse at the Desert Springs Resort

Dear Desert Springs Team,

More often than not, people write to complain about the service that they receive than to give praise.  But, when you receive an outstanding level of customer service that goes above and beyond the call of duty, it's only fair to let everyone know.

This was definitely the case when we purchased our home at Desert Springs, Almeria.  From beginning to end, Elvira made us feel very welcome and comfortable, she never put pressure on us to make a decision.  We had some anxious feelings, this being the purchase of our first home abroad, but through Elvira's professionalism, great advice, contacts, and her terrific personality, she put us at ease and made this experience a great one.  We knew that she had our best interest at heart.  The whole process was handled smoothly and professionally.  The thing that impressed us most, was the "tenacious work ethic" of Elvira.

Once we completed the purchase, the level of service continued at the same level.  Julia has been tremendous in terms of helping us settle into our new home, taking care of our shipping delivery from Sweden and making sure that our home was spotless on our arrival.  Elvira and Julia have integrity and both fully committed to us.

This letter is to express our complete satisfaction and appreciation to Desert Springs Sales, Admin and Club House team.

We want to personally thank you Elvira, Julia & Paul for all your incredible hard work.

We have no apprehension in recommending your services to anyone.  We wish all of you a very successful career.  Of course without saying, we will definitely recommend Desert Springs to all our friends and family.

Yours Sincerely,

Mr. Tony & Mrs. Pips Fernandez

From: Michael Welch
To: Desert Springs Resort
Date: Saturday 6th April, 2013
Subject: Comments from Lee Westwood Golf Academy students and staff following their one week winter training camp between 31st March – 6th April, 2013

PGA Instructor Michael Welch (Far Right) with 11 full time students from the Lee Westwood Golf School during their return visit to the Desert Springs Resort for a 7-day intensive winter training camp.

During 31st March – 6th April, eleven students accompanied by Michael Welch, Lee Westwood Golf School PGA Instructor, escaped the snow in the UK and returned once more to enjoy the sun in Spain and complete a 7-day training programme at Desert Springs.

Henry Tetley aged 16 remarked of his experience at Desert Springs:

“This is my second visit to Desert Springs and I love coming out here.

In the spring the grass throughout the golf facilities is so lush that it makes you want to practice and play more and more.

Whilst it’s snowing in the UK, the weather here has been superb and this intensive training will surely improve my golf.

The on-site accommodation is perfect and there are plenty of non-golfing activities available at the Resort to keep us all occupied.”

A Lee Westwood Golf School student tees off on Hole 14 “Tiburon” on the Indiana course at Desert Springs.

The group were accommodated in some of the privately owned apartments normally reserved for holidays and short breaks at Desert Springs and the resort’s executive chef was on hand to cater for the special dietary requirements of individual players dining in the award-winning El Torrente Restaurant. During their time at the resort the players have utilised the excellent practice facilities at the Golf Academy and played the Indiana golf course.

Georgia Coughlin aged 17 remarked of her experience at Desert Springs:

“I had come on a previous visit with the Lee Westwood Golf School back in January of this year, and I´ve definitely found it worth while returning again!

The weather has been superb and the amount of flowers and colours throughout the course are amazing.”

A Lee Westwood Golf School student putting for birdie on Hole 15 “Abyss” on the Indiana course at Desert Springs.

Michael Welch, Lee Westwood Golf School PGA Instructor commented:

“I can only take positives out of our return visit to Desert Springs.

All of the staff ensure that you are made to feel welcome and the service provided is perfect.

We have loved the meals at El Torrente Restaurant and therefore we use it more and more frequently.

The golf course is in superb condition and I find it a true test for any player. Course Management plays an important role, as every hole could be played in several different ways.

The Practice Facilities are ideal; especially the chipping green and its variable mowing heights that allow us to practice a wide variety of shots.

Desert Springs is a great venue for golf.

I´m extremely pleased that the Lee Westwood Golf School had selected them for our Winter Training Camps and I look forward to organising many more trips in the future.

They make everything so easy for us!

Members of the the trilife.com team on their early March tiathlon training camp at Desert Springs

Desert Springs provided the perfect location for thetrilife.com’s  6th triathlon training camp in early March.

Obviously the location is blessed with warmth and sunshine while it was horrendous in the UK and northern Europe.

There is easy access to spectacular, smooth, quiet roads, which either soar into low mountains, or roll along the shores of the Med.  In addition, there are off-road running trails where you might see a scuttling rabbit, but very little else, and they have a gym for stretching, strength and core work.

Stretching, strength and core work in the Sierra Sports Club gym for the trilife.com triathlon team

We swam at the nearby Kinetic PB 25m indoor pool at Cuevas de Almanzora.

When we weren’t training we were sleeping or eating!

The accommodation at Desert Springs is delightful – clusters of apartments and houses grouped around swimming pools – in February the outdoor pools are too cold for swimming, but perfect for post-ride cryogenics!!

The accommodation is close to the action, but also private and secluded enough to rest and relax alone with TV and wi-fi.

As for eating, the Clubhouse restaurant provided great breakfasts (cereals, juices, toast, hot buffet, tea and coffee), packed lunches for when we needed to refuel quickly post-ride, and a good variety of dinner choices which meant we happily stayed in-house every night (the last thing you want to do after a hard day’s training is think about where to go for dinner).

A big thanks to Desert Springs – we’ve found our new winter training home....

Further to a 4-day warm weather fitness and cricket training camp held at Desert Springs between Tuesday 26th February – Friday 1st March, 2013 Middlesex County Cricket Club, Head Coach Richard Scott commented:

"We chose Desert Springs to give a large proportion of our squad (16) the chance to physically train in a different environment and also to work outside for the first time this year on fielding skills.

The players were accommodated within the luxury Colonial Apartments at the resort, sharing twin rooms, which were clean and up to date with each apartment housing a total of four.

We had exclusive use of the gym and the full size international football pitch on a daily basis and utilised the 'trim trail' cross country tracks laid out around the golf course and mountain bikes, which were made available, for the whole squad, to provide variation.

Tee times were booked on the excellent Indiana golf course for the afternoon as part of our package.

Desert Springs provided menus, which were agreed in advance and the standard of the food was excellent.

Nourishment packs, which included water, snack bars, fruit etc. were also provided.

The service within Desert Springs is first class and everyone in all departments ensured our stay went to plan and was enjoyable."

Thank you very much for your email.

We all really enjoyed our stay at Desert Springs.

Having been to other Spanish golf resorts, my friends were pleasantly surprised at the attitude of all the staff. Everything was done with a smile from the cleaners, greens staff and bar staff and of course you and the others at the desk.

The accommodation was great, ?a lot of us don'?t have the chance to stay in a villa of that quality and we thoroughly enjoyed it.

Once again we were all really happy and impressed by the quality of the resort and golf course and the friendly attitude of the staff and I certainly look forward to my next visit to Desert Springs.

Between Saturday 9th – Saturday 16th February 2013, 12 players representing the Under 18 & Under 21 Irish Ladies International squads accompanied by three officials visited the resort for a week long intensive training programme to develop their individual golfing skills in warm weather while experiencing a golf course which offers a challenge to players at all levels.

The students and officials were accommodated in some of the privately owned apartments normally reserved for holidays and short breaks at Desert Springs and the resort’s executive chef was on hand to cater for the special dietary requirements of individual players dining in the award-winning El Torrente Restaurant.

David Kearney, ILGU Coach (Centre) with the members of the U18 & U21
Irish Ladies International Squad at Desert Springs

David Kearney, ILGU Coach commented:

“I was very excited about using Desert Springs as the base for our Winter Training Camp, since I had heard many great things about the Resort and its popularity amongst Squads and other Teams.

During our stay we have never been intruded upon; actually there has been a lot of respect for our group and we have been enabled to practice with great freedom.

In accordance with a pre-designed and agreed itinerary, everything was perfectly organised and the staff met our needs without error.

The layout of the Resort is brilliant as all facilities are on hand and within easy access. I´m already looking at the next Academic Year to pre-book our next training visit to Desert Springs!”

Squad member Danielle McVeigh who is now to turn Professional remarked:

“Desert Springs is an excellent Resort to come and practice your golf, the conditions of the practice facilities and the golf course are fantastic.

In fact, it is the best Resort I´ve come to play, surely a very enjoyable experience.

The service on the Resort is simply top level and the apartments are exactly what we needed for rest and relaxation and the beautiful weather makes you want to stay. I can´t believe I´m going back to the cold of Ireland!”

"After spending a week at Desert Springs with several of the Lancashire CCC professional squad I can thoroughly recommend it as a venue.

The excellent outdoor grass facilities provided us with the perfect conditions for fielding and agility work.

This alongside the gymnasium, sandpits and trim trail gave ample scope for varied and constructive training.

This all takes place in the idyllic setting of a golf course which provides a perfect environment for hard work, in depth discussions and pure enjoyment.

Subject: Friday Golf Society Away Day at Desert Springs

Hello Nacho,

Please accept the sincere thanks of myself and my members for the very pleasant day we spent a Desert Springs yesterday.

Your help and attention made the day a most enjoyable event, for the 42 members who participated, and all have asked me to pass on their thanks.

Your staff there should be commended for the way in which they treat your clients, with a level of service and courtesy that are far too often lacking in these modern times. Nothing was too much trouble and all requests made by our members were greeted with a warm and friendly response.

I realise that one should not sort out individuals for praise, when the whole staff perform at a high standard, however, certain persons deserve a mention ie The young man in golf reception, Aiesha in the caddy masters office, Ellie and Michael in the restaurant and of course yourself.

Our society WILL return for more away days at Desert Springs be assured.

Thanks for making our visit so memorable.

Kind Regards,
Alan Sly

Dear Carmen and Jennie,

Thank you for your letter of 22nd October.

Once again we had a most enjoyable stay at Desert Springs and also had the most fantastic weather for the whole time.

The golf course was in superb condition despite the torrential rain you had just before we arrived.

Thank you Carmen for re-organising our accommodation for the second week when we were joined by our friends Geoff & Linda Tate.

It was lovely to see alternative accommodation and we were very comfortable in La Estrella.

Natalie and Roxana were always extremely helpful as were the Caddy master staff.  I did intend to speak to you personally before we left but unfortunately it was your day off.

I am certain that we shall be visiting Desert Springs again in the near future and your continuing offer of 5% reduction for returning guests is much appreciated.

Once again, our thanks for a most enjoyable stay and congratulations on maintaining such a high standard of service to your guests. This is the aspect of your business, which is so important to us as clients and combined with the excellent golf facility will bring us back to Desert Springs.

With kind regards,

Enjoyed a fantastic week at a beautiful and relaxing resort. Desert Springs have managed to build a high class facility and a great golf course but maintained an atmosphere of intimacy and warmth. Though the villas and the golf were hugely enjoyable the thing that made the week for us was the people - unfailingly polite, helpful and friendly staff in the hotel and on the course - Nacho even improved my golf swing.

Thanks to you all and looking forward to returning soon.

Dear Sandra,

Thank you for your e-mail.

May I take this opportunity to thank everyone at Desert Springs for a truly memorable golfing break. Everything about our few days was first class.

The staff at the resort are to be congratulated for the high standards they set in their professional duties, from the condition of the course and the accommodation, to the quality of the catering.

However, what impressed us most was the way everyone at Desert Springs made us feel welcome and valued, everyone was so friendly, nothing was too much trouble!

I believe you have something special at Desert Springs.

My wife and I have an apartment at El Ancla in Villaricos, and regularly visit the decking terrace for a coffee and a light lunch.

The golfing experience I have just had, just confirms why we enjoy your hospitality so much.

Please convey my thanks to all concerned, and please pass on our best wishes to Pepa, who has shown using good will and kindness over the years.

I can't wait to return.

I arrived at Desert Springs with back neck and shoulder problems. Standard stuff for me.

I was recommended by an owner to try Karen's massage. It was an excellent recommendation. Not only did Karen sort out my problem, she did so without me having to go through the agony that I have come to expect to be associated with an effective massage.

Not only is Karen an expert in her profession, she is a joy to be with.

I think Karen does World Peace - when Mum is happy that means Dad is happy and kids are happy. Equals World Peace!

I highly recommend an Indian Head Massage with World Peace thrown in for free!

Date: Friday 21st September, 2012
Subject: Sharon's comments on their 8 day golf holiday at the Desert Springs Resort from the 9th to the 17th September, 2012

Hello Sandra,

This was our 6th visit to Desert Springs, we really enjoy coming to visit and for the last 3 years have persuaded some friends to come with us and they also now love the place.

Everything we need is available; we have got to know which apartments suit our needs. From the moment we decide to book usually through Jennie in the UK office who sorts out our needs, to the moment we arrive, we feel at home, the golf reception, caddy master and greenkeeping staff are excellent, as are the restaurant and bar staff and we love dining in the restaurant usually a couple of times during our stay and the menu of the day is excellent value and offers a good variety.

The accommodation is always in excellent order and we usually like to have one with air con and UK TV channels to keep up with news etc.  We love the golf course and even after all this time still enjoy the challenge of it.

Just to note we have in the past 2 years moved up to the Murcia areas for a couple of days before flying home and have stayed in 2 different complexes and played 5-6 other courses in that area, but we are thinking of not doing this again as we do not get the same quality of customer service, standard of accommodation and quality of golf course (especially the greens) and have endured very slow rounds often over 5 hours this year, which is not much fun.

We will visit again.

Thanks,

Sharon Sims

I would personally like to thank you and Carmen for arranging things for this visit in September at relatively short notice. The arrangements from beginning to end were excellent, with check-in and-out so easy.  11 La Rosa was perfect, and what a superb outlook and location.

Although we don’t play golf, perhaps one day, we love the peace and quiet of Desert Springs, which gave us once again such a thoroughly relaxing holiday.

We will be back for sure, the only question is how soon?

Thanks again to you all.

DESERT SPRINGS RESORT & GOLF CLUB

From: José Ignacio Olea, Golf Operations Manager at Desert Springs Resort & Golf Club
Date: Monday 13th August, 2012
Subject: Reporting on the visit of UD Almería 'B' Team for their official 2012 Pre-Season Football Training Camp

UD Almería 'B' Team Manager, Francisco Rodríguez

I met with the UD Almería 'B' Team Manager, Francisco Rodríguez, for an informal meeting to receive his views and opinion on how he felt the team´s first visit to the Desert Springs Football Academy had gone to get as much feedback as possible.

Unión Deportiva Almería 'B' Team (Almeria Football Club 'B') selected the Football Academy at the Desert Springs Resort to be host to their official Pre-Season Football Training Camp between Wednesday 1st – Friday 3rd August, 2012.

UD Almería 'B' Team 2012 Pre-Season Training Camp at Desert Springs Football Academy

A squad of 23 players and 8 officials from UD Almería 'B' – which currently competes in 2ª División B (Spanish Division Three) also benefited from access to and use of the 18-hole Indiana golf course and golf academy. They enjoyed the opportunity to swim, play tennis and use the gymnasium, trim trail, jogging tracks, padel tennis and beach volley ball courts. They also had access to the resort’s Private Reserve which incorporates a spa, private sauna and jacuzzi suite, personal fitness workout room, games room with bar, and a home cinema, which was used on several occasions as a conference and meeting room to further visualise videos as part of the training camp. Accommodation for the players and officials was in some of the privately-owned apartments normally reserved for holidays and short breaks at Desert Springs. The resort’s executive chef was on hand to cater for the special dietary requirements of individual players dining in the resort’s two restaurants – the award-winning El Torrente and the Croc Restaurant, part of the family-friendly Crocodile Club.

UD Almería 'B' Manager, Francisco Rodríguez, commented;

Accommodation
The Apartments where we stayed were absolutely fine; the community pools were used very often by the players after training and the quiet atmosphere at Las Sierras was quite convenient for resting purposes. We didn't miss a Hotel operation at all.

Food and Beverage
The F&B meals and service were absolutely spotless; I couldn't find any weaknesses or make any suggestions. The Menus were superb, as well as the quality of the food which was always served on time. All the staff were very accessible and polite with the players, rapidly attending every request.

Resort Staff
Everyone at the Resort has shown interest to assist our team, and I´m very grateful for the assistancereceived. Even at the Football Pitch we have had a member of the Staff at every session, to attend any irrigation or maintenance requests!

Football Pitch
The Pitch was kept in immaculate condition for us; I have already provided a very positive feedback to the UD Almeria President, as the Pitch is as good as it can get. This is obviously the most important facility for us and I would grade it as a perfect 10!

Sierra Sports & Fitness Club Facilities
During our short stay we haven't made much use of those facilities but they are sufficient and well maintained.

2013 Preseason Camp
Each Manager has his ownviews, but I would definitely like to come back to Desert Springs for Pre-season Training. The players are very comfortable here and it has been easy for them to concentrate and work hard. No doubt I will be requesting the use of thisResort in 2013.

Summary
I'm certainly happy with our Pre-Season Training Camp at Desert Springs. Before being a manager, I have played football professionally for 15 years, and out of all the Resorts where I have travelled for Pre-Season Training Camps, Desert Springs is second to none. I´m sure that Desert Springs has all the ingredients to attract many other teams and I´m surprised not to see them already!
UD Almeria could help spreading the word within the spanish football network as it is quite recommendable.

Returning to Desert Springs for the second consecutive year, and having exceeded the team expectations last summer, I was interested in hearing the comments from Javi Gracia, the new coach of UD Almería, and what the players had to say about their Pre-Season Camp at the Desert Springs Football Academy.

Unión Deportiva Almería (Almeria Football Club) selected the Football Academy at the Desert Springs Resort to be host to their official Pre-Season Football Training Camp between Monday 23rd – Tuesday 31st July, 2012.

Accommodation
The community of Las Sierras was very quiet and convenient for us, providing a lot of privacy and no disruptions.

Food and Beverage
Everything was perfect; all of the dietary requirements were followed strictly and the food was ready on time every day.
Players hate to wait for their food, especially after training, and this never happened during our stay. The quality was phenomenal and all staff members were on hand.

Resort Staff
Fantastic, we have felt very well attended. When we made any request, like the use of a Conference Room, it was organised within minutes and we were able to use it on several occasions. Nobody in my team has commented anything negative to me, so it must be a good sign!

Football Pitch
We have worked carefully on the Pitch trying to avoid any damage from traffic, and it has actually worked out well.
The playing surface and thickness of the grass was just perfect, and also the daily assistance of the Maintenance Crew has made a difference.

Sierra Sports & Fitness Club Facilities
I have visited the gym, and although it is not huge, it has all of the necessary machines for workouts.

2013 Preseason Camp
I have been very comfortable at Desert Springs and would certainly consider it for a future Pre-Season Training Camp. Other Resorts may have more pitches, but at Desert Springs we are not forced to train at certain times and we feel very welcome.

Summary
I knew that UD Almería had already used Desert Springs last year, and if we have repeated as we have, then something must be working well!
The players seem to be very comfortable and they take for granted that we will be back!
I have personally felt very well attended and everything has assisted to provide a good Pre-Season training camp.

Dear Sandra,

Thank you for your email.

We had a lovely holiday at Desert Springs and would love to return in the future.

We found the accommodation to be of the highest standard and Desert Springs is certainly one of the nicest resorts we have stayed in.

All the staff were excellent and helpful, especially the gentleman who met us in the middle of the night when we arrived.

If I had any suggestions, it would be maybe some activities for older children, 12 –16 in the mid season, I understand it is not possible to provide a full programme early in the summer, due to lack of demand, but it would be great if there was something for them to learn or do.

Anyway, thank you again, from a very rainy and not so warm Ireland

Subject: John Duncombe commenting on his party of 8 group break at the Desert Springs Resort between 21st-25th June, 2012

Hi Jennie,

First of all can I thank you for sorting us out at Desert Springs. We got back last night after a terrific few days and loved every minute.

The house was perfect, with so many balconies and outdoor areas that we could have all had one each.

The staff were so friendly and the restaurant proved to be great value and good food.

Our golf day went well, (meaning I only lost one ball)... It was tough but beautifully designed and maintained, a great experience which I think they call 'challenging' nowadays.

Many thanks.

John

Daryl & Jenny Kirby, the new owners of 10 Desert Gold, a new Buenaventura Cottage at Desert Springs

Peter,

As you are probably aware, we are now the proud owners of 10 Desert Gold. After many enjoyable visits, we have now joined the family of Desert Springs.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you and all your staff for their assistance and co-operation throughout the whole process. We would particularly like to thank both Paul and Inma (not sure of spelling) for resolving the issues generated by the bank and keeping us as calm and stress free as possible whilst things appeared to be breaking down (fairly normal for Spain as we understand). We have already thanked Paloma for her assistance and diligence in seeing this matter through to a successful conclusion and can now look forward to some happy times in our own place.

Thanks should also go to Paul Taylor without whose initial involvement and advice, this process would not have happened.

Many Thanks,

Daryl & Jenny

Hi Jose,

Hope your well.

Just wanted to say I had a great time at your resort last week with Glen Nash and wish I could have stayed longer but was short and sweet!!

I have to say I thought the golf course was in superb condition and the greens were amazing. The greens were like carpet and the ball rolled true every time. Please pass my comments onto the owner and green keeping staff; I had a great golfing experience!!

Upon my return at work I have been singing praises to my colleagues about the resort and hope to venture to you in the near future. I may even be looking at week commencing 18th June 2012 with my dad and his 2 friends. Do you know how busy the resort is then for say a week's stay?

Thanks again Jose!!

Hi Jennie

Just a quick email to say we had a great time in Villaricos – the apartment was lovely and had everything you could possibly want and the village was also lovely. It was "more" Spanish than we had thought which was brilliant, as we like to experience the culture when we visit abroad. It was also quiet and suited us.

The golf club were very good as we had to cancel the second game of golf and they rearranged for another day for us.

Thanks for all your help and we hope to go back at some point.

Jennie and Sandra

Thank you for your letter/email.

This was our second visit to Desert Springs and we were once again impressed by the high quality of the accommodation and services offered at the resort.
The extended clubhouse hours allowing us to take evening meals as well as daytime drinks and snacks in the El Torrente Restaurant was a welcome addition to this splendid facility. The quality and price of the food were both excellent.

The golf course maintenance was as good if not better than we remembered and the Caddy Master staff were helpful and friendly.

We expressed an interest in seeing some of the available properties and Paul Gutierrez was most helpful in showing us the properties and advising on various purchase options. He also offered a 2-night break for us to visit the resort if we are considering a purchase.

We shall certainly be returning to Desert Springs in the future and your offer of a 5% discount for former guests booking a return visit is much appreciated.

All the staff at Desert Springs could not have been more helpful and are to be congratulated on their attitude and commitment to the welfare of the guests.

The initial booking and reservations procedure before our visit was made very easy with the help and cooperation between the UK and Desert Springs staff and I should be very happy to deal directly with the Almanzora Group for any future bookings.

We look forward to our next visit.

Kind regards

Dear Steve and Tania,

Where do I start? So many thankyous.

Desert Springs more than exceeded my expectation and also the expectations of the motley crew who came with me.

Thank you both so much for looking after us all so much, it was truly appreciated by everyone.

Loved the villa, the course, the food, the wine, (we did have wine didn’t we?) and especially the very friendly and attentive staff, they were all lovely and everyone one of them seem to go the extra mile, please convey our sincere thanks to them all.

Loved the Cave and that incredible bar-b-cue you put on for us, I don’t think my stomach and I will ever forget it.

Thank you too for showing us round and organising that amazing Paella lunch on Sunday.

It was sad to leave but I know we will be back, bad luck!

Roy spoke with Simon about a golf tour, he is a member of two societies, so no doubt spin offs will occur, I don’t think you’ve seen the last of us, so sorry.

I only hope both you and Steve got some fun out of us too and didn’t feel it was too much entertaining.

Wouldn’t advise you came back to the UK just yet, the weather is appalling, very jealous!

All the best, and thanks again for everything,

Regards

A cricket squad of 20 players aged between 16 - 18 years and two officials from Trent College – followed in the footsteps of other teams such as Cheltenham College, by enjoying the facilities of the Cricket Academy established at Desert Springs for their pre–season training camp between Saturday 14th – Wednesday 18th April.

During their four-night stay, the Trent College players and officials were accommodated in some of the privately-owned apartments normally reserved for holidays and short breaks at Desert Springs and the resort's executive chef was on hand to cater for the special dietary requirements of individual players dining in the resort's award-winning El Torrente restaurant.

Scott Boswell commenting on the Trent College Cricket Training Camp at Desert Springs

Scott Boswell, Cricket Coach, Trent College

I met with Scott Boswell, Head of Cricket at Trent College, for an informal interview to receive his feed-back on the whole experience at Desert Springs Resort.

(Jose) This is your first time at Desert Springs; after spending some days at the Resort what is your overall impression?

(Scott) I´m very happy with our stay so far. Initially the Cricket Camp was going to take place at a different Resort; however, at the very last minute the venue had to be rescheduled and I was quite apprehensive about going elsewhere. After speaking to Kim Parsley from Cheltenham School I was more confident and thought that Desert Springs would be the right choice.

(Jose) How do you rate the cricket facilities at Desert Springs?

(Scott) The cricket facilities are definitely a strength at Desert Springs. I didn't expect such high a quality wicket, which thanks to Anthony and his team was superb. Also, weather conditions have enabled us to practice intensively every day which is the purpose of this trip.

(Jose) A group of 22 people can provide us with helpful feedback about other important matters such as accommodation and meals. Moreover, resting and eating properly is vital to any athlete.

(Scott) The resort accommodation was lovely. All of the Apartments at Desert Springs are nicely furnished. The food was actually fantastic and considering that the boys eat a lot, both the quantity and quality were superb.

(Jose) Considering your positive feedback concerning the Camp, is there an opportunity to see Trent College back at Desert Springs?

(Scott) Definitely. Every aspect of the Training Camp has surpassed my expectations and we have been able to do a lot of productive work. We shall be back in 2014 and maybe next year as well!

(Jose) Is there anything else that you would like to comment?

(Scott) Actually the staff at Desert Springs deserve to be mentioned. The service received from the departments was great; everyone offered assistance and we communicated with the managers frequently.

A cricket squad of 27 players aged between 10 – 13 years, accompanied by seven officials from Cheltenham College Junior School – enjoyed their seventh cricket pre-season training camp at the facilities of the Cricket Academy established at the Desert Springs Resort between Saturday 7th – Wednesday 11th April.

During their four-night stay, the Cheltenham School players and officials were accommodated in some of the privately-owned apartments normally reserved for holidays and short breaks at Desert Springs and the resort's executive chef was on hand to cater for the special dietary requirements of individual players dining in the resort's award-winning El Torrente restaurant.

I met with Kim Parsley, Director of the Cheltenham College Cricket Team, and one of the attending students Will Hardie, for an informal interview to receive their feed-back on the whole experience at Desert Springs Resort.

Interview with Kim Parsley:

(Jose) This is now your seventh cricket pre-season training camp held at Desert Springs, how would you rate this years visit?

(Kim) Being back at Desert Springs is always a pleasure. I can rest assured that the facilities and service are always great. Because we schedule various training sessions each day, we get a lot done and the work becomes very effective.

(Jose) In previous years the Team was accommodated in a Hotel, how would you compare that with the apartments that the team now stay in on the Desert Springs Resort?

(Kim) Accommodation has never been an issue on our trips. I must say that staying at Desert Springs has been far better than any other choice; I have realised that the time saved in commuting in and out of the Resort every day can be used to program our training more effectively.

(Jose) At Desert Springs we aim to provide schools and clubs with "value for money" packages, coupled with the highest standards of quality for both service and facilities. I´m aware that your son has attended the Pre-Season Training Camp before; as a father, how would you rate the cost of the trip for your son?

(Kim) On a value for money ranking, it´s definitely a 10/10. The service is great, facilities are awesome and the cricket pitch together with mild temperatures are all we can ask for. The quality of the food was brilliant and always on time.

Interview with Will Hardie:

(Jose) It must be lovely to train in short sleeves whilst it´s raining at home in the UK, and I´m aware that some of you have used the swimming pools located in Las Sierras.

(Will) That's correct. The weather has been fantastic throughout the camp and we have also enjoyed the swimming pool in the evenings. Water was a bit cold, but still great compared to the UK!
(Jose) As other activities on top of cricket, you have had an "Introduction to Golf" session at the Golf Academy and also a night out at the nearby village Garrucha.

(Will) I´m happy that we did those. Golf was loads of fun and all the boys loved it; actually next year there could be more golf sessions added to the Camp or an optional golf round. Also, I liked the visit to the spanish village whilst we were here in Spain.

(Jose) Talking about cricket, this is your second year attending the Cheltenham College Training Camp at Desert Springs. Why do you think that it´s so important to attend in order to improve your cricket skills?

(Will) In the UK we only get about 2 hours of proper cricket training per week and sometimes we have to do indoor training due to the weather. However, here we have 2 full sessions per day and the intensive training scheduled in 4 days equals the training of months at home!

I selected to return once again to Desert Springs mainly due to the level of service we are provided with and the quality of the practice facilities at the Golf Academy and the course itself which provide a great place for a training camp.

Furthermore, the resort is not concentrated on volume traffic but rather quality, and this provides the perfect training environment for us to benefit from."

I met with Bryne Football Club Manager, Tommy Bergersen, for an informal meeting to receive his views and opinion on how he felt the visit to Desert Springs Resort had gone.

Speaking of the teams experience at Desert Springs, Tommy Bergersen remarked:

"As always, the resort accommodation was excellent and very comfortable, the quality of the food was perfect and special thanks for the "Special Dinner Menu" on our final evening and also the special attention given for the two birthdays that were celebrated during our stay!

The quality of the football pitch was as we have come to expect, excellent, and the introduction of the new portable goal was very useful.

The new layout of the gym facilities at the Sierra Sports Club is a great improvement as it has allowed us more space for floor exercises for the players.

The Resort staff were all very friendly and helpful. Two of us had required medication whilst we have been here and a member of staff has been to the chemist, picked it up and delivered it to us. This is the kind of service that makes Desert Springs so special, and that's why we come back every year.

We definitely would like to return next year and we will be in contact with you towards the end of the year for a quotation. I am also aware that Carmen has contacted a number of other teams in Norway and they have been in contact with me personally asking my opinion on the Resort and facilities. I believe that you will have enquiries from them for 2013 Training Camps!"

Phil McCormick's views on his families golfing holiday in a three bedroom Country Villa at the Desert Springs Resort & Golf Club between 19th - 26th February, 2012.

Hi Sandra

We had a great stay at Desert Springs and we all enjoyed our golf holiday.

All the staff were great with us during our short stay. The Villa was very well equipped and we found everything excellent as regards to cleanliness and servicing of the villa.

The golf course itself is a seriously hard test of golf and we had used the week as a pre season warm up session for our son who plays off plus 2 handicap and is hoping to join the professional ranks at the end of this year. He managed a 5 under par round of 66 during the week so it's a good start to the season for him.

Thanks to everyone at Desert Springs, we will see you next year.

Kind Regards

Dear Karen,

We had a great 'Bubbles & Bubbles' day at the Spa, chatting in the hot tub, drinking champagne in the warm sunny secluded garden talking through the previous days rounds of golf and then Karen massaging away the aches and pains. We enjoyed the pampering time so much that we have already booked our day when we return to Desert Springs in November.

Tanja Slater, former Triathlete and GB Team cyclist, brought her Up & Active holiday group to Desert Springs over the New Year holidays.

Hi Daniel,

I would like to thank you for your help with our stay at Desert Springs over New Year; we were the cycling group.  Thanks for helping us with the Internet connection over the week and we all really enjoyed the stay and New Year at the Crocodile Club.  The group had a great time and a fun and relaxing stay with sport of course! We hope to bring a bigger group next year as we had such a good time.

I just wanted to pass on that Dimitry really made our week. We have a great most nights in the Crocodile club and he was always friendly, looked after us and made sure we had everything we needed. He would talk with us but also left us to talk with ourselves as well.

Ellie also looked after us at the restaurant and made us welcome and managed to fit us in late when the restaurant was full.

Hope to see you again as I am back in February.

Hello Karen,

Happy New year!

Just wanted to thank you for our lovely Bubbles and Bubbles Experience! We so enjoyed it...

It was my second visit to the Spa as having enjoyed the experience with my elder daughter in April, we decided to spoil ourselves again at Christmas after the festivities, bringing my other Daughter too.

I believe that this is going to become a family ritual when the girls come to stay!

It is such good value for money in lovely surroundings, how could we not wish to relive the experience!

Thank you again and see you soon!

Subject: Maya Charlton Morales 3rd Birthday Party held at the Crocodile Club

Good afternoon Ellie,

I would like to thank you for a wonderful and well organised birthday party held at the Crocodile Club, for my daughter Maya Charlton Morales.

At only three years of age, I'm sure she has experienced an unforgettable day together with her twenty-one little friends!

The food, the service and the decoration were worthy of a princess- all pink and Hello Kitty themed as I requested. The smiling faces and kind attitude of all the staff from the minute the guests started arriving until they left, were to a standard that is very difficult to find nowadays! Even one of your waiters, Dimitri, offered to entertain a group of twenty-two three year olds after the hired professional entertainers had finished! Such a nice touch!

Most of the mothers who attended will be contacting you very soon to organise the birthday party of their own children, as they were pleasantly surprised with both the atmosphere created and how well organised everything was! This shows how "word of mouth" is the best marketing and advertising tool! (This comment came from myself and other parents who are professionals and work in this area)

My most sincere congratulations to all the Crocodile Club team!

Best regards and good luck! Keep up the good work!

DESERT SPRINGS RESORT & GOLF CLUB

From: Jose Ignacio Olea, Golf Operations Manager at Desert Springs Resort & Golf Club.

I met with Karen Nicholls, Director of Golf for Millfield School, for an informal meeting to receive her feed-back on how she felt the Millfield School Golf Academy squads warm weather winter training camp at Desert Springs held between Saturday 10th – Tuesday 13th December, 2011 had gone.

millfield_01.jpg

Millfield Golf Academy Squad Winter Training Camp at Desert Springs

(Jose) How would you rate the overall experience at Desert Springs?
(Karen) As always very good all round, staff are friendly and do make sure your needs are catered for. Special mention to the golf staff, Ellie and her staff in the catering area and to Carmen for making our trip so smooth with all the package arrangements.

(Jose) Were the practice facilities / golf course in good condition?
(Karen) Practice facilities were top, great hitting off grass at this time of year. Greens smooth and course overall very good.

(Jose) How would you rate the staff service at Desert Springs?
(Karen) Staff as always are very good, look after and cover all needs and certainly make you feel welcome and remember you from past visits.

(Jose) How could we improve your experience?
(Karen) As far as we are concerned with what is offered all is covered, just wish we could come more often!

(Jose) Why is Desert Springs the selected venue for Millfield School?
(Karen) We are made to feel very welcome, nothing is too much trouble. When taking a school trip you need a venue you know will be easy to make it successful. Desert Springs offers great practice facilities, especially the short game area, a golf course in excellent condition and a challenge to all. The accommodation is close to all facilities and you know the students are safe and their needs all covered. The staff always make us feel welcome and I would like to think the relationship we have between the two of us, will continue.

(Jose) Would you recommend Desert Springs to others?
(Karen) I have been a regular visitor to Desert Springs and will continue to do so and certainly would recommend to others.

DESERT SPRINGS RESORT & GOLF CLUB

Subject: The 'Golf 4 Women' Ladies Winter Golf Festival Sunday 13th – Saturday 19th, 2011

Dear Peter,

I hope you are well.

Just a very quick line to bring to your attention the magnificent effort Nacho/Natasha put in in organising the recent Ladies Winter Golf Festival. He really did enter into the spirit of the occasion and won lots of admiration for both his tack and diplomacy in "managing" 40 strong willed, opinionated women" (no mean feat") - but also in generally "working the crowd".

The ladies from other Clubs were very impressed by his approach and attitude and he/she is to be commended for his/her effort in trying to keep everyone happy all of the time.  He/she certainly did "above and beyond" in dressing up in drag for both the social events and I think we all saw a side of him/her that has not previously manifest itself!

Essentially he/she won lots of new friends andsupporters - male and female alike - and his/her effort should be recognised by the management of Desert Springs. We are all too quick to criticize but praise where praise is due!

I think I speak for a number of the Lady members when I say that we were all concerned that this very special week in the calendar would not be the same post Christine's departure but, thanks to Nacho, to a significant extent our fears have been allayed.

Best wishes.

As an avid golfer I have been fortunate enough to have played a lot of golf at many different Golf Resorts throughout Spain. I have to say that my experience at Desert Springs has been by far the best!

The Indiana Course offers a great golfing challenge and is maintained to the highest of standards.

In my opinion and from my own personal experience, the golf is only surpassed by the customer service which was excellent at all times.

DESERT SPRINGS RESORT & GOLF CLUB

From: Michael Taylor, on behalf of the Stella Robertson Foundation To Peter Goodhall, Managing Director of The Almanzora Bay Group & Desert Springs
Date: Saturday 3rd September, 2011
011

Dear Peter

Firstly it was a pleasure to meet with you on the Wednesday evening of our golf week.

Can I say that, after we spent a week in Abu Dhabi last year, the first of what we hope will be a yearly event for many of our 100 or so members, it was said that we could not repeat or better that.

The comments that we have received so far from those who attended at Desert Springs are to say the least very heartwarming. Although Almeria is not Abu Dhabi, Desert Springs itself came up far above everybody's expectations; even the course, they felt was just as good as Saddiat Beech and Yaz Links and some even said it was even tougher.

The service, which your staff provided, was second to none and even if it is said that Abu Dhabi has the only 7 star hotel in the world, then Desert Springs must have the only 7 star staff. , In every department from the grounds man to reception, especially Carmen who just excelled, including your catering staff and managers, especially Ellie and Daniel and the chefs, who excelled in our opinion with a fantastic array of food from the first night in the Cave Bar to the Gala Dinner on the last night.

The course management, and all the other parts that we enjoyed on the golfing side, requires a very special thanks to Nacho who, without whose professionalism and helpfulness I am sure the event would not have been so successful.

Finally thanks to Paul Taylor, for his acceptance of my early morning calls, late evening and weekends during which, now the event is over, he can sleep; he did us proud.

And to your company may we, at the Foundation, and our Warblers wish youall the very best for the future.

Kind regards

Michael Taylor

Reporting on their family holiday at Desert Springs between 14th July – 1st August, 2011.

Hi Nacho

This is just to say a very big thank you for looking after us so well during our holiday at DS. Both George and I felt we had improved our golf under your excellent tuition, which in my case is a miracle! George is out playing a few holes today and both of us (and William) are determined to make time to play more at home rather than wait until our next visit to DS.

I have to say that you have a very good way of dealing with adults and children alike. William and George both said how much they enjoyed the lessons with you and I would endorse that too. The problem we have now is that none of us will want to have tuition from anyone else!

Also, just to mention the excellent treatment we had from all the caddy masters, Cisco and the two ladies whose names I didn’t quite manage to learn. It all adds to the good experience of visiting DS. Please thank them all on our behalf, as like you they are a credit to the resort. Tell Cisco I will be looking out for Barcelona’s results when the season starts; no doubt they will once again be the team to beat in Europe.

I am deliberately copying this email to Peter so that he can make certain our positive comments are formally noted.

We look forward to returning to DS and seeing you again soon.
Best wishes,

Gareth

Reporting on the visit of UD Almería for their official 2011 Pre-Season Football Training Camp

2011-07-30_Pic_02.jpg

UD Almería Manager, Lucas Alcaraz

I met with the UD Almería Manager, Lucas Alcaraz, for an informal meeting to receive his views and opinion on how he felt the visit to Desert Springs Resort had gone to get as much feedback as possible.

Union Deportiva Almería (Almeira Football Club) selected the Football Academy at the Desert Springs Resort to be host to their official Pre-Season Football Training Camp between Monday 18th - Saturday 30th July, 2011.

2011-07-30_Pic_01.jpg

UD Almería Team 2011

A squad of 24 players and twelve officials from UD Almería – which currently competes in Liga Adelante (Spanish Division Two) also benefited from access to and use of the 18-hole Indiana golf course and golf academy. They enjoyed the opportunity to swim, play tennis and use the gymnasium, trim trail, jogging tracks, padel tennis and beach volley ball courts. They also had access to the resort's Private Reserve which incorporates a spa, private sauna and jacuzzi suite, personal fitness workout room, games room with bar, and a home cinema. Accommodation for the players and officials was in some of the privately-owned apartments normally reserved for holidays and short breaks at Desert Springs. The resort's executive chef was on hand to cater for the special dietary requirements of individual players dining in the resort's two restaurants – the award-winning El Torrente and the Croc Restaurant, part of the family-friendly Crocodile Club.

UD Almería Manager, Lucas Alcaraz, commented;

Accommodation
The Apartments at Las Sierras are superb. Because we usually stay at Hotels during the season, we were expecting that sort of operation. Nevertheless, we are very satisfied with their location, quality and privacy.

Food and Beverage
Excellent service. The food is great and meals are always served as scheduled. It could not be any better!

Resort Staff
Each department throughout the Resort has been very supportive during our stay. Also, attention to detail and flexibility are key for the training success. We have found that the professional team at Desert Springs has smoothly attended to all of our "last minute" requests in an efficient manner.

Football Pitch
The conditions of the Football Pitch are absolutely superb and ideal for training. Moreover, our preferred specifications have been accommodated on a daily basis.

Sierra Sports & Fitness Club Facilities
They were fine, including the Gymnasium.

2012 Preseason Camp
We have had an extremely positive experience at Desert Springs, and in my opinion the team will surely be interested in returning in the future.

Summary
When a professional football team travels for a Pre-Season Training Camp, there are always small inconveniences, schedule changes and last minute problems that are disruptive and unfortunately cannot be resolved. In my 28-year football career, Desert Springs Resort has been the only venue where all aspects have run smoothly, and requests have been accommodated. Thanks to their facilities and professional staff, we have been able to fully concentrate on the training camp.

Dear Ellie,

Well we are back home now and the wedding all over!

I just wanted to say a really big THANK YOU for making Nikki and Scott's wedding day exactly how they planned it! Everything on the day went so well with so much attention to detail. I know how much time you spent making sure the colours matched, the timing was perfect and the guests all looked after. The guests were all really impressed with the resort and with their accommodation on the resort.

It was a wonderful day and it would not have been possible without all your hard work. Desert Springs is an amazing venue for a wedding with the fabulous setting and really good food. To top it all, the staff were all so helpful and friendly from Daniel to Miguel, Melissa, Marcus, Carmen, the girls at reception, yourself and all the others - thank you for wonderful service.

Thank you for also organising the barbecue the night before the wedding, which Mr. Peel said you did a great job and also for the surprise birthday party on Monday.

We will see you when we are out next time and once again, thanks so much Ellie.

I just wanted to say a big thank you for looking after us all so well during Nikki and Scott’s wedding. You all did an amazing job and looked after us all so well….but I just wanted to thank you especially for:

Taking care of my dietary requirements and arranging the risotto for me and being so attentive in checking if it would be suitable!

For finding the headache tablet for my boyfriend….you were a real lifesaver producing that!! I can not thank you enough!

For taking the photo of us in the cave….and going to so much effort to move the chairs and make sure it was perfect!!

Thank you so much Ellie. I hope you manage to get a day off finally now that we have all left you.

Nicola and Richard (and Roo – the little kangaroo you kept seeing us mad people take photos of!!!)

Reporting on his stay at the Desert Springs Resort to celebrate the wedding of Nicola Gray to Scott West on Saturday 28th May.

I thought I must write to say thank you for all the things you did for me and what a great job you did for Scott and Nicky's Wedding on Saturday. Everything was faultless and the food was REALLY good! I am only sorry I did not get a chance to go to one of the local fish restaurants.

Your Meat and Fish Suppliers for my barbecue were truly Excellent and made all the difference.

I enclose a small token of my appreciation of everything you did and a copy of my London Five Star Hotel Journal which I hope will amuse you.

Keep up the good work!

Reporting on his visit to Desert Springs Resort & Golf Club

Estimada Carmen:

Ana

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

English Translation:

Dear Carmen,

We are now back at home, exhausted but very content.

I did not want to let the moment pass without congratulating you for your excellent organisation. Starting with the night manager who welcomed us when we arrived, the girls in reception, the caddy masters and even the waiters of the restaurant, who although a little slow (that's the only criticism that could be made) did not need to be told after the first day what each of our preferences were. Nor do I forget your call to Lua [a local restaurant], where we were looked after marvellously well. The attention that you pay to the details is notable and we are grateful to you for that.

The golf course, which I already knew, is better every time and the apartments are very comfortable. All very well set up and as clean as could be.

We shall be telling our friends about Desert Springs and encouraging them tovisit you.

A hug and many thanks, Ana

Reporting on his visit to Desert Springs Resort & Golf Club

Just a quick email to say we all thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night break to Desert Springs and we would like to say a big thank you to all of the staff there for being so friendly and welcoming. In particular, Ellie & Dimitry in the El Torrente restaurant were fantastic. It was a real pleasure to experience such good service from everybody at the resort and I have been busily recommending the place to everyone that will listen. Many other resorts could learn from the service and facilities provided at Desert Springs. The apartment was lovely and very well equipped and really felt like a home form home. The food in the restaurant was superb, very good value and wonderfully presented. Thank you.

I'm looking forward to returning in June with my family when we stay in the villa.

Many Thanks

Tim

the_belfrey.jpg

On Thursday 24th March José Ignacio Olea had an informal meeting with Alistair Davies, PGA Professional based at The Belfry, in order to evaluate their stay and Winter Training at Desert Springs.

(J) How would you rate the overall experience at Desert Springs?
(A) Very welcoming / Friendly

(J) Were the practice facilities convenient / in good condition?
(A) Great

(J) How would you rate the staff service at Desert Springs?
(A) Excellent

(J) Would you recommend Desert Springs to others?
(A) Desert Springs is ideal for a training camp. The entire experience has been very pleasant and I´m looking forward to coming back next year and using Desert Springs for my group´s Winter Training.

When asked why Alistair chose Desert Springs to be host to the warm weather training for his golfing students he responded:

There were other resorts under consideration such as La Manga, however Nigel Edwards ( Director of Player Development & Coaching of the Golf Union of Wales), and Kevin Hale ( Senior Academy Instructor of any other. St. Andrews University), both previous visitors to Desert Springs with training squads of their own highly recommended your resort and facilities over.

Reporting after their stay at the Desert Springs Resort between March 3rd - 6th, 2011.
Tim Jollands and Neil Tappin chose Desert Springs as the perfect scenario for the Photo Shoot used to create the future golf publication: ENCYCLOPEDIA OF GOLF.

Dear José,

Many thanks for your kind comments about the photoshoot, which I will pass on to Neil, Paul and Rob. Given the variable weather, the three of them combined exceptionally well to create some stunning images and I´m delighted with what we managed to achieve. Over the next couple of months we will be creating the layouts and when I have something more finished to show I will email pdfs.

May I take this opportunity to thank all of you at Desert Springs for making the shoot such an enjoyable experience. Your team responded cheerfully and with calm efficiency to all manner of requests and we felt really well looked after throughout our stay.

Best wishes

bryne_team_2011.jpg

I met with the Bryne F.K. manager, Tommy Bergersen, for an informal meeting on how he thought the trip had gone to get as much feedback as possible.

Accommodation
Excellent as always, very comfortable.

Food and Beverage
Again excellent, the menus were perfect and thank you for your flexibility with the meal times.

Resort Staff
Very friendly and helpful.

Football Pitch
Last year the quality of the pitch was excellent, this year it is even better. You simply do not find such high quality pitches to train on anywhere else.

Sierra Club Facilities
More than adequate for what we require.

Other Facilities
A few of us have used the Driving Range and found it very good.

2012 Training Camp
Yes, we definitely would like to return next year; we will contact you after the 2011 season.

To summarize, we love Desert Springs, as it has such a relaxing atmosphere, which makes us want to train and our experience here improves ever year. Everything has been perfect, from the transfers, to the pitch surface, the staff, the food, the accommodation and also the personal attention we receive. Please send me an introduction letter, so that we can pass it to other teams in Norway with my recommendation.

On Saturday 5th February I met with PGA Professional and Head Coach of St.Andrews University, Steve North, for an informal meeting on how he thought the squads first visit to Desert Springs had gone.

(J)  How would you rate the overall experience at Desert Springs?

(S) Excellent. The Standard of facility was exactly what we needed and the staff bent over backwards to help us.

(J) Were the practice facilities convenient / in good condition?

(S) Practice facilities were excellent and the condition was perfect. I found the putting & chipping greens a little too much slope and would prefer some flat areas.

(J) Was the golf course in good condition?

(S) Perfect

(J) How would you rate the staff service at Desert Springs?

(S) Service from all staff was 10/10.

(J) Would you recommend Desert Springs to others?

(S) Yes we would. We have already discussed a joint warm weather training & competition with our international partners for next year.

We had a wonderfully relaxing holiday in Desert Springs in September,
staying at Powderhorn 29....So good that we are definitely thinking of
booking again this year.

Jon does play golf, which he did one morning...and we both enjoyed a
relaxing massage at the spa. Otherwise, the holiday was really about
spending time with our 2 year old around the pool and enjoying lazy BBQs and
the odd night out at the Crocodile Club restaurant.

We would - and have!! - recommended Desert Springs to our friends, so
hopefully you'll see some more business come your way!

All best wishes,

DESERT SPRINGS RESORT & GOLF CLUB

From: Neil & Katey Lawson
Date: Friday 23rd July, 2010

I found Karen @ Desert Springs when I was searching for a beautician to provide treatments for my girlfriends and I for my hen day in Spain. We met up before the day to discuss my requirements, and I also found out that she did bridal make too. Karen arranged the whole hen day for us and always went the extra mile to get me exactly what I wanted, and the make up she did was beautiful. I felt so comfortable with telling her what I liked and didn’t, and she did too which I was so grateful for. She also did my bridesmaids nails and make up too, aswell as the 8 or 9 massages that she did all one after the other on my hen day!

The other lovely thing about Karen is that because she is solely involved, she provides a personal yet highly professional service, and I’d definitely recommend her for a relaxing spa/hen day @ Desert Springs or for bridal make up. I will definately be visiting Karen again when I go back to Desert Springs/Terreros. I could never say how grateful I am to Karen for all her help.

DESERT SPRINGS RESORT & GOLF CLUB

Date: Friday 7th May, 2010

There is nothing more welcome than an oasis in a desert and in several respects Desert Springs Resort and Golf Club is just like an oasis.  For a start the lush fairways and perfect greens of the golf course contrast with the arid countryside all around. But in a country like Spain, where outstanding new developments can be hard to come by, Desert Springs is also an oasis of quality and excellence.

Desert Springs is a holiday resort, golf club, and residential development with plenty of personality. For all the right reasons it is not somewhere you can easily forget, nor confuse with any other new development in Spain. Any development that is unforgettable, and unmistakeable, in a positive sense, will always enjoy advantages over the mass of developments that aren't. This is especially true from an investment point of view.

You know something is up when you first turn off the main road from Cuevas de Almanzora into Desert Springs. The slightly scruffy, rustic charm of the area gives way to a perfect infrastructure, and an immaculate landscape. Even an untrained eye can see that expensive, quality materials have been used for things like sidewalks and street lighting, and that the landscape is being carefully maintained. Such details are always a good sign, as they reveal a lot about the quality and values of the developer.

One of the reasons why Desert Springs is so unforgettable is because of the resort's architecture and design. There is a wide choice of properties, but all of them are designed and built by the developer, which ensures a consistent architectural theme throughout the resort. As a result, Desert Springs has an attractive Spanish colonial architecture that suits the landscape perfectly. To compliment this romantic architecture, homes are finished in earthy colours, with rustic materials, and stylish wrought iron work details.

DESERT SPRINGS RESORT & GOLF CLUB

From: D. Jesús Caicedo Bernabé

My municipality, Cuevas del Almanzora, has in recent years become well known far beyond its boundaries as a result of the fame and high profile that Desert Springs has conferred on it. This leisure resort, which has become recognised both nationally and internationally, is in reality one of the most enchanting locations that can be found in the region.

The great variety, which it offers, provides a perfect combination of sport and well being. And Desert Springs has much to offer; its unique desert golf course, its magnificent restaurants, its sports areas and in particular its very direct integration with the environment, which has made it such an inviting and welcoming place.

It is a place in which one can delight in the tranquillity and beauty of the surroundings. The visitor who gets to know all of its secret corners is taken with the elegant style of the place and with the enchantments that enfold the Resort itself.

Desert Springs has turned itself into a unique and exclusive tourist enclave; an ideal location to welcome and host all kinds of ceremonies in its unique surroundings.  It is undoubtedly the case that a day spent at this residential leisure resort is both a complete and most pleasurable experience for those who are looking for the best in quality.

Date: Thursday 29th April, 2010

Hi Peter

Our Dream Home at Desert Springs!

Hope you are well and recovered from your long drive to Calais and back! We suffered similar problems having to drive down (26 hours door to door, 4 of us in Gina's convertible!), but just me and my son Ryan driving back with an overnight in Biarritz, while Gina and my daughter Bex flew home (cheats)!

Now that we have completed on the property and moved in I would like to tell you that we are absolutely 'over the moon' with our finished villa.

Your staff (Janet, Julia, Chris and Jim, not forgetting Freddie and Paul) have been a credit to the company and we really do feel that they have gone the 'extra mile' to get things right for us and fully satisfy our needs. From deposit to completion I really don't think it could have gone any smoother, a very professional and competent team!

I would like to point out in particular that Janet Mills (in spite of some health problems last year) has been an absolute star for us. The whole buying experience was made much more pleasurable with her regular photo updates and sometimes daily bulletins which held our attention and laughter throughout! She was always available when we needed her even on days off she would be on hand to answer any urgent queries we may have had.

Many thanks to you, Peter, for your continued help and advice.

We look forward to many happy years ahead being part of the Desert Springs 'family'.

Kind Regards

Ashley and Gina Roberts

DESERT SPRINGS RESORT & GOLF CLUB

From: EDDIE GRAY, following his golf break at Desert Springs in April
Date: Monday 26th April, 2010

Hi Carmen,

It was nice to see you on Saturday.

I just wanted to say what a fantastic weekend we had. As always the service was first class. Even though we had told Gary how good it was, I think it surprised him just how spectacular the whole thing is.

Even when there are new members of staff they still know how to make visitors feel special. Please pass on my thanks to everyone at Desert Springs.
The house you put us in was perfect. I am not sure you could have picked a better location.

I have just e-mailed the others to see what dates they can do in June so hopefully I will be in touch soon to book the next trip.

I am delighted the sun is out so have just rearranged my flight from tomorrow to Thursday. Back to work next week after two months of leisure so I am making the most of it.

Thanks for looking after us.

Kind regards
Eddie

Date: Friday 26th March, 2010

Dear Marimar & all at Desert Springs,

Just a quick email to say thank you for all the help & assistance you gave to our golf party when we visited the resort, for the first time, last weekend.

The Apartment & Golf course were truly immaculate & also the staff were so helpful. Due to delays we didn't arrive until 10pm on Friday night, but the Crocodile Club bar still provided us with a meal.

We will definitely be booking again, maybe later this year or next year.

Regards,

Anthony Rowan

Date: Wednesday 7th April, 2010

Hi Janet

As you know the signing went well yesterday, following your hand-over, and I eventually managed to get into my pool at 4.30pm witnessed by Barry and Pauline Carver and Peter Goodhall, absolutely freezing!

We eventually got home to the UK at 2am after a very eventful day.

Once again, many, many thanks to you especially for all your hard work in making our buying experience such an exciting and memorable event.  We really will miss your weekly bulletins and photo updates which have kept us on the edges of our seats for the past 7 months or so!

I will be writing to PG in the next few days.

See you in a couple of week's time when we move in.

Kind Regards,

Ashley and Gina

Hi Carmen,

Many thanks to everyone for a wonderful week in Desert Springs. We have been going as a group for 11 years now and it was agreed that this year's trip has been one of the best.

Even the weather was on our side. When we arrived in Glasgow on Monday it was snowing and 3 degrees. Quite a change.

Many thanks again

DESERT SPRINGS RESORT & GOLF CLUB

From: Jim Gordon, Manager of the Sierra Sports & Fitness Club at Desert Springs

Reporting on visit of BRYNE FK, the Norwegian first division football club for their pre-season training

On Friday 12th March I met with the Bryne F.K. manager, Tommy Bergersen, for an informal meeting on how he thought the trip had gone to get as much feedback as possible.

(J) Tommy your first visit to Desert Springs (Bryne's second) – did you enjoy your stay?

(T) Yes we did everything about our stay was perfect.

(J) Was you accommodation up to standard?

(T) Yes the apartments were first class and nicely furnished making our stay here very comfortable.

(J) How was your dining experience in both restaurants?

(T) All the meals from breakfast to dinner were excellent and all our dietary requests were met.

(J) Were the staff friendly and helpful?

(T) The staff were all very helpful and nothing was too much trouble for them, including you of course Jim.

(J) Did the football pitch meet your expectations?

(T) The pitch was fantastic I have to say and the whole squad agrees it is the best surface they have ever played on. In Norway 70% of football pitches are Astroturf so it was a treat to have a perfect playing surface on grass.

(J) How did you find the rest of the Sierra Club sports facilities?

(T) Excellent a few of the players used the gym which is very well equipped.

(J) Did you use any of the other facilities during your stay?

(T) Not on this trip because we did not have enough time. However next year we would like to come back for a week to take full advantage of the resort and even play a round of golf on your wonderful looking course.

(J) Is there anything we could have done to improve your stay at Desert Springs?

(T) No the whole trip was perfect and being the first time here I was interested to see how good it was because the players that were here last year had such a good time. They did not want to go anywhere else and now I know why and agree.

(J) So therefore can we expect that you will be returning to Desert Springs?

(T) Yes as I said earlier we would like to come back and for a week next year finances permitting.

(J) Can you think of anyone you could recommend Desert Springs to?

(T) Yes and I think it would be beneficial to get in touch with all the league clubs in Norway to invite them out to see your facilities here. You can use me for any personal recommendations.

(J) Could you please sum up a description of your training camp stay at Desert Springs for our website?

(T) Yes I would say that Desert Springs is the perfect place to hold football training camps. Everything about the resort is first class from the relaxing ambience, the food being perfect, accommodation very good to the football pitch which was excellent. At La Manga everything is rushed and we have to queue for all our meals. There we have one hour on the pitch at a time and we have to wait for the team before us to finish. There is always a team waiting for us to finish too so after two or three days you feel stressed and tired. This is the complete opposite to how we feel at Desert Springs. At Desert Springs with the first class service and attention to detail we are leaving feeling refreshed as you do a first class job here. The one thing you will need to have to be careful of is maintaining the standard when you have more teams coming here for training which I'm sure you will have. Eventually you will need more pitches to accommodate the additional teams training here too.

DESERT SPRINGS RESORT & GOLF CLUB

From: Jim Gordon, Manager of the Sierra Sports & Fitness Club at Desert Springs

Reporting on visit of HONEFOSS BK, the Norwegian Premier Division football club for their pre-season training

On Friday 26th February, I met with the manager for an informal meeting on how he thought the trip had gone in order to get as much feedback as possible.

Your first time here. Have you enjoyed your stay at Desert Springs?
"Yes very much everything was perfect."

Was your accommodation up to standard?
"The apartments were excellent."

How was your dining experience in both restaurants?
"Very good the food was great."

Were the staff friendly and helpful in the restaurants?
"The staff were fantastic; you should congratulate everyone from the kitchen to yourself.
They could not have been more helpful."

Did the football pitch & changing room meet your expectations?
"The pitch was perfect one of the best we have played on."

How did you find the rest of the Sierra Club sports facilities?
"The players enjoyed having the mountain bikes."

Did you use any of the other facilities during your stay?
"Not myself."

Is there anything we could have done to improve your stay at Desert Springs?
"No apart from goalposts with wheels, for easier movement, due to the fact we play a lot of 4 aside on ½ pitches. Also it would have been useful to have an electric pump for the balls."

Would you return to Desert Springs for future camps?
"Yes definitely."

Can you think of anyone I can contact regarding camps?
"You should check out Norwegian papers. They have all the websites of the clubs and you can use me for personal recommendations."
Additional comments:

"Desert Springs is a lot higher standard than La Manga."

"The games room was very popular with the players at night."

"The sauna/Jacuzzi was used a lot."

"There have been a couple of editorials in the Norwegian press about their stay at Desert Springs. I am liaising with a reporter to try and get some information for our website."

"There has been a property inspection from the trip"

"They have enjoyed their stay so much they are asking price for next January."

DESERT SPRINGS RESORT & GOLF CLUB

From: Heather & Steve Martin
Date: Tuesday 9th March, 2010
Subject: Thank You!

Hi Tania,

I just wanted to drop you a line to say a huge thank-you for our holiday in Desert Springs. How lovely it was to enjoy some warm winter sunshine - and what a shock to return to the cold back in the UK!

Desert Springs Resort was a welcome retreat and we both felt that the resort has been very well planned and laid out - the landscaping is first class and Joel's cacti were amazing. What an interesting man he is, you are certainly very lucky to have such an expert to hand. We both enjoyed meeting him and now look forward to reading some of Joel's books. Could you please pass on our thanks to Elvira, Carmen, Karen and Paul, as well as to the staff at both The Lodge and the Crocodile Club, who all made us feel very welcome.

As well as relaxing at Desert Springs we also enjoyed exploring the local area and the wider area, with the dramatic backdrop of the Sierra de los Filabres and Sierra Nevada mountains further afield. I'm so pleased that we managed to get in the trip to the Alhambra, having studied its influence on the development of English gardens on my university course last year.

We will certainly be recommending Desert Springs to our friends and family and hope to return some time in the future.

Thanks again, with warmest wishes,

Heather & Steve Martin

Subject: Weekend stay

Hi Carmen/Alfonso,

I just wanted to thank you both for your help and organization for our short stay last weekend. I thoroughly enjoyed our time at Desert Springs as always.  It was nice that the others in our group, who have not been before had a great time and liked the Golf course and Resort!  So much that they will be booking a return trip soon.

I would like to mention certain members of staff, who made us feel very welcome and made the extra effort to make our trip more special. They are Nick and Tom from the Caddy masters facilityThey really were excellent and epitomized everything Desert Springs is about.

This was my 12th visit to Desert Springs and I was concerned that in the current climate standards may have inevitably slipped. This was definitely NOT the case. Although, the number of staff did not seem as high this was not noticed in the level of service.

Once again thank you for a good trip. Please pass on our gratitude to Nick and Tom especially.

Sixth-former, Nic Elliott (17) added: The resort's golf academy has a great driving range and a very nice putting green – but the chipping and bunker facility was the best

DESERT SPRINGS RESORT & GOLF CLUB

From: John Southwick, Tournament Director of The Golf 4 Women Salver
Date: Saturday 21st November, 2009

Dear Simon,

I wish to put on record my sincere thanks to everyone at Desert Springs  Family Resort  & Golf Club  for their sponsorship of the Desert Springs "Golf 4 Women" Salver tournament.

For the last two years every detail has been simply the best that anyone could ask for in a golf resort.

All  the facilities that Christine organised for the finalists could not be faulted, and the golf course was a true test of golf for the players.

I have sent a report to Lady Bader OBE who will be writing to you directly. It only remains for me to say "thank you" for your sponsorship and perhaps in the future when the economic climate changes we may be able to visit Desert Springs again.

Kind regards, John Southwick

DESERT SPRINGS RESORT & GOLF CLUB

From: Lady Bader OBE, President of the Douglas Bader Foundation
Date: Tuesday 24th November, 2009

On the occasion of the final of The Bader Ladies Salver Tournament

Once again Desert Springs has provided a magnificent venue for the final of The Bader Ladies Salver Tournament.

Sadly the passage of time has made it impossible for me to attend in person but I have heard from John Southwick our Tournament Director that 2009 was as good if not better than 2008! I am advised that the facilities, accommodation and condition of the course are second to none and I believe too that the attention of the staff was first class and that, in particular, Chris Langford, who was very much involved with the organisation, was outstanding.

You are no doubt aware that 2010 marks the centenary of my late husbands' birth. In celebration the Foundation will in February be launching a brand new project, Bader Braves, which is a challenge/support programme for disabled children and their families and it is towards this project that the funds raised through the golf tournament will be applied. In no small way has the contribution of Desert Springs towards the success of the Ladies Salver played its part and we are, as ever, indebted to you and your fantastic team for making it possible.

With my very best regards and sincerest gratitude,
Yours sincerely,

Lady Bader OBE., President

Dear George and Carolyn,

How very kind of you to write those generous words!  I shall make sure Janet and supporting staff are aware.

Overseas property purchase is usually a pretty stressful process and does not often result in praise for developer's staff, so your email is especially pleasing.

I think that 5 Buena Vista is an excellent property and that you have bought well, so I wish you every enjoyment of your new property and look forward to catching up with you at Desert Springs in due course.

Gentlemen,

Desert Springs is renowned for its helpful and pleasant staff.  But I suspect that by and large you hear more on the complaining side than the complementary side of things -  such is human nature.

My wife and I feel that we cannot let the help and advice we have received from Janet pass without advising you of our appreciation for all that she has done.  She has made the buying and settling in processes extremely straightforward.  Of course there have been frustrations but she has been there to deal with the issues.

We cannot praise her highly enough.

DESERT SPRINGS RESORT & GOLF CLUB

After her visits to Desert Springs

Hi Jo

We had a tremendous time at the resort. The weather was fantastic and the facilities matched it. The food on site was high standard too and we all enjoyed the meals greatly. The staff couldn't have been nicer or more helpful - especially the British staff at the Crocodile Club and at the clubhouse and restaurant. Nick and Lewis at the Caddymaster shack were especially welcoming and friendly. Please pass on our thanks to them for adding to the enjoyment of our short stay.

The course itself was in great order and we all thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We all intend coming back at some point in the near future (probably with families in tow!)

I have recommended a trip to the course to a group of friends who are going to La Manga later in the year. I feel it would be well worth the drive through to experience the course - can you tell me if there are any deals available on green fees only?

Finally, thanks very much for your help from the start of the booking process. The service received has been very attentive from start to finish and is much appreciated. I will definitely be back at Desert Springs soon.

Hi Jo,

We all had a fantastic time although some forgotten after far too much alcohol!  The Indiana Course was fantastic but a little tough for the high handicappers in our group, Valle de Este was OK but not very fair.

All the staff at Desert Spring's were very helpful, professional, pleasant & friendly.  Resort was a little quiet but it did not stop us having a great week.

Certainly the best Golfing Holiday that I have been on to date.

After their visits to the Crocodile Club and El Torrente restaurants at Desert Springs

Hi Daniel

Didn't get chance to speak to you last week at DS, but thought I would just
do you a quick mail. Went to the Croc Club 4 times and thought the new menu was very good, fairly priced and, most importantly, was presented well with good tastes.

We were also at the dinner following the Captain's Drive-in golf round and
once again found the food at the Clubhouse to be excellent. A simple menu
but well executed. In that respect could you get me the recipe for the
"Raspberry Panacotta" dessert, I am doing a dinner party for 12 back in
England in September for my 65th and would like to have that dessert which
was very light and refreshing. Hope this will be possible with Steve Pegg.

We will be out again next week on the 29th April for about 10 days so
hopefully will see you then but perhaps I'll hear from you in the meantime.

Kind regards,

David and Yvonne Barrows

PS Sad you have lost Kate and with Anna going, we have
lost 2 very good staff!! Cest la vie et bonne chance!!!

Dear Jo

We had a lovely break, thank you very much. We thought the golf course was spectacular, in superb condition and very pretty, and we were pleasantly surprised  to find that it was not too busy, so we were able to get round more or less at our own pace. All the staff and also some of the local residents were very friendly which created a good atmosphere off the course.  We thought the main restaurant in particular was excellent and our accommodation was  clean and comfortable (apart possibly from the pillows which were a bit hard!) All in all we thought it was really good value for money and would definitely recommend it to our golfing friends who have not been there, (although several of them had and recommended it to us!)

After a session with Alfonso Castineira, Assistant Director and Head Professional at the Academy of Golf at Desert Springs

Dear Alfonso

Thank you so much for your marvellous tuition last week and for your company during our two rounds of golf.

I really appreciate the time you spent trying to turn me into a halfway decent golfer. I played 18 holes at my local course yesterday, managed a par at a par 5 and a birdie at the par-4 tenth, helped by a member's bounce off a tree overlooking the green (my luck is still holding, evidently). We won't talk about the other 16 but I feel I understand much better what I should be doing.

I hope you have a great summer and that Desert Springs goes from strength to strength.

Many thanks again and best wishes

Hi Jo

Yes, we had a wonderful few days at Desert Springs and the weather was very good. As you may know I work at La Cala Resort on the Costa del Sol and was anxious to see how other clubs do it. We thought that the staff in particular were extremely kind and helpful. We have already recommended Desert Springs to some of our friends as the whole package was excellent.

Your resort is so different from where I work that it was a nice change to have someone serve me! The food in the clubhouse was first class and we really couldn't fault anything except our golf!

Good luck to all concerned and thanks for an excellent break. Please let us know if there are any other offers as we might go again!

Hello Jo,

I hope you are well. Just a quick note to let you know how our trip, Feb 22 to 25, to Desert Springs Resort went.

This was truly a magnificent experience for us all, we were all very impressed with the attitude of the staff on site and with the facilities available to us while we were there. You can rest assured that we will be looking to travel to the resort again next year about the same time as this, but with a few more people in our numbers (hopefully about 20). If and when you know of your price tariff for the same dates as this year please do not hesitate to let me know.

Once again thanks for your help in organising our trip and i look forward to speaking to you again in the near future to organise a return trip to your wonderful resort.

Following our recent visit to Desert Springs, I would like to thank you and everyone involved in making our stay such an enjoyable experience.

The range, chipping area and putting green are in excellent condition and along with the use of the GASP studio and a lot of hard work the lads have honed their games for the season ahead.

The course is in fantastic condition with excellent greens, which was a bit of a shock to the system after a long English winter.

The food was first class both at the Golf Club and the Crocodile Club and everyone at Desert Springs looked after us with a smile on their face.

A final thank you to everyone and hopefully we will see you again next year.

Kind Regards

DESERT SPRINGS RESORT & GOLF CLUB

Date: Tuesday 9th December, 2008

Dear Alfonso

Thank you for your email.

The trip to Desert Springs was very productive. The mild climate was conducive to productive practice, when our climate at home is cold. The resort has fantastic facilities, all within walking distance. We had no need to hire a bus, even the transfers from the airport were arranged by the resort. Maria del Mar Sanchez was extremely helpful with organising the whole trip from the accommodation to all our golf and fitness requirements. The staff at the resort were helpful and hospitable. The Golf Academy always had the range prepared ready for our use each morning.

We are looking forward to our next training weekend in February and hopefully it will be as successful as the first.

DESERT SPRINGS RESORT & GOLF CLUB

Date: Thursday 27th November, 2008

From Lady Bader OBE,
President of The Douglas Bader Foundation

Dear Mr Coaker,

As you are probably aware, it was not possible for me to attend the 2008 final The Desert Springs "Golf4Women" Salver which was recently held at your splendid venue. However, I have received reports from Toumament Director, John Southwick and our Director, Keith Delderfield who represented the charity in my absence, informing me as to just what a great success the event has been.

From what 1hear and from the literature that 1have received, it is clear the Desert Springs is a really magnificent resort and provided a first class venue for the final. I gather from feedback that, in particular, the course was in first class condition and that its presentation was "stunning" and that the contribution and professionalism of Christine Langford along with the friendly attitude and helpfulness of all ofthe Desert Springs staff was second to none and I congratulate those responsible for gathering together what is obviously a very special team.

On behalf of everyone at The Douglas Bader Foundation I offer you my sincerest thanks for the most generous support you have provided ensuring that our event has been such a great success and I am delighted and grateful to leam that the 2009 event is again to be played at your first class resort.

Yours sincerely,

Lady Bader OBE.,
President.

From Lady Bader OBE,
President of The Douglas Bader Foundation

Dear Peter,

I am aware that you have received a message of gratitude from John Southwick, Tournament Director of The Desert Springs "Golf4Women" Salver, following the recent staging of the very successful final at your wonderful Desert Springs Resort and Golf Club. I felt that after having receiving John's report and the of Charity Director, Keith Delderfield, who represented our charity in my absence, I must write to express on behalf of everyone at The Douglas Bader Foundation, my sincerest gratitude for your most generous support.

Clearly it was a superb event and one greatly enjoyed by every one of the participants. From the comments that I have received it is clear the whole Desert Springs team is worthy of praise but, in particular, it appears that special mention and thanks are due to Christine Langford who made sure that everyone was so well looked after and ensured that the competition was so well presented; to the course staff for preparing such a great and challenging track for our final and, indeed, to the whole staff team, each of whom played a role in making everybody's stay such a happy and memorable one. We are indebted to you all.

I am grateful and delighted to learn that your kind support is to continue for 2009 and hope I may at some point have the opportunity of thanking you personally.

With my sincerest thanks and very best wishes.

Yours sincerely, Lady Bader OBE.

DESERT SPRINGS RESORT & GOLF CLUB

From Mr. John Southwick,
Tournament Director, on the occasion of the:

Desert Springs 'Golf 4 Women' Salver Grand Final.
In association with The Douglas Bader Foundation

As Tournament Director of the Desert Springs 'Golf 4 Women' Salver I wish to put on record my appreciation to everyone at Desert Springs especially Christine Langford who made the final of the event a huge success.

The golf course was indeed a challenge to all the lady finalists, but the course was in excellent condition as were all the facilities that everyone enjoyed. Everyone of the Desert Springs staff looked after our every need and I found the resort and staff to be of the highest standard, that I have experienced during my travels around the world.

I feel sure that the lady finalists who competed will convey to their golf club members the excellence of Desert Springs Resort when they return home. From my point of view I feel that this is the best form of advertising ("word of mouth"). Keith Delderfield of the Douglas Bader Foundation who attended the event will be reporting back to Lady Bader OBE the President of the Foundation, and I feel sure that you will be receiving a letter from her in due course.

inally with the success and the forthcoming publicity I feel that this tournament will grow from strength to strength and will not only help the Foundation but also the Desert Springs Resort in 2009.

Regards,

John Southwick.

DESERT SPRINGS RESORT & GOLF CLUB

Date: Tuesday 18th November, 2008

Following The Desert Springs Ladies' Golf Holiday, 9th – 15th November, 2008

We have just returned home this weekend after a week at the Desert Springs Golf Resort in Southern Spain and we felt that we would like to write to you to express how much we appreciated the hospitality that was shown to us by all the staff and residents.

We thought that the accommodation was excellent (a townhouse near the practice ground of the golf course) and the kindness and care accorded to us during our stay was first class. We cannot speak highly enough of Christine Langford, whose thoughtfulness and meticulous attention to detail ensured that we enjoyed all aspects of our stay at the resort. Her efforts, which were way above and beyond those we are sure of her general remit, guaranteed that we were made to feel like VIPs during our stay. We certainly took full advantage during the week of being coached by such a prestigious player. Generally we thought that the golf course and facilities at the Golf Academy were excellent. All the staff, whether it was in the restaurants, on reception or at the Caddy Master's Centre could not do enough for us.

When you are working all year, holiday time is precious and we feel that our week at Desert Springs was spent very wisely. We are certainly considering returning to the resort next year and we will be recommending it to our golfing companions around Wirral and the North West area.

Regards,

Louise Davies & Diana Griffiths.

From Phil Neale, OBE
Operations Manager, England Cricket Team
Captain Worcestershire County Champions 1988 & 1999,
Wisden Cricketer of the Year, 1989,

Hi Jim,

Sorry it has taken a while for me to get around to sending this note but I have been pretty busy since we got back. The Stanford T20 match in Antigua and the Tour of India are just around the corner so there is plenty to do and my feet have hardly touched the floor!

Thank you for all you did for us Jim, you went to a lot of trouble on our behalf and we really appreciated it. Chris and I enjoyed catching up with you again and, despite the weather, we thoroughly enjoyed our break.

Also, if you would be kind enough, I would ask you to please pass on our thanks to everyone at Desert Springs, in particular, Simon, Daniel, Christina, Paul, Joel, Alfonso and Karen, for hosting us so generously and for ensuring that we had an entertaining and relaxing holiday. I know everyone was busy but so many of them took time out to show us around and interact with us.

We felt that there was a really good feeling about the Resort, that the quality of all the properties was exceptional and found the townhouse we used to be extremely comfortable.

I wish you continued success in getting some football teams out to Desert Springs. It seems to have done Shrewsbury some good and you certainly have the potential to add to your facilities and extend your client base in this area. I guess you will all be busy gearing up for the Ian Botham Charity Golf day. I wish you all every success with that and the continued development of Desert Springs. We were amazed by the scale of the project and look forward to visiting again at some time in the future to see how it has progressed.

Kindest regards,

Phil Neale

Dear Simon

"Just a quick email to thank you for taking care of us whilst we were out with you at Desert Springs in Spain.

I can probably vouch for the rest of the other lads by saying that we had a fantastic time whilst we were at Desert Springs, the course was amazing as was the hospitality from all the staff that met us and dealt with us. It was a pleasure to be able to play with yourself and I'm sorry I was so bad; you did well to keep your concentration! Hopefully if we are allowed back again, I'll be back for another knock round and try to shoot a reasonable score this time, maybe I should spend the winter handicapping myself, 28 sounds perfect!

Thanks again for everything and I will look forward to next year when I return."

DESERT SPRINGS RESORT & GOLF CLUB

From: Paul Simpson, Shrewsbury Town FC Coach, on the conclusion of their Club's fist warm weather pre season training camp at Desert Springs.
Date: Tuesday 1st July, 2008

Paul Simpson, Shrewsbury Town FC Coach commented:

"When I arrived at Desert Springs it was a fantastic facility, that was the first thing that struck me. Everything about it looked to me as if it could be perfect for a pre-season training camp, and I have to say being here as well and the work that we have done, we haven't been disappointed! It's been excellent in everything they have done for us.

When I came here to view the facilities in May I quickly realised that there was everything here that you could use for pre-season to make the training varied and it has been excellent, it really has. The surface on the football pitch is as good as any that you will get in England and the gym facilities are excellent. There are mountain bikes, there is everything here that you can have a full week, probably even two weeks of varied training, but unfortunately we only had four days!

I think the players have been really surprised with the standard of the accommodation, they are luxury and there is everything in there you could possibly need and there's the facilities if they wanted to make themselves a drink in the rooms. There are facilities if they had to wash there own kit, everything is there for them and I think they have been very, very pleasantly surprised by it."

Ben Davis, Shrewsbury Town FC Captain added:

"It's been a brilliant stay for us; the lads have all absolutely loved it. Training has been really hard but we have got through it all and the facilities have been great for us so it has been a great chance for us to come away and get some team bonding together.

The football pitch is spot on and the way it has been kept over the few days we have been here has been excellent with the heat and everything, and the surface has been ideal for us. With the three sessions it's needed to be and it has held up very well for us.

The fact that we have been able to train outside has been brilliant for us. We have had three sessions; at seven o'clock in the morning and one as well at night as well as the afternoon one and they have all been spot on and the weather has been lovely and it has helped everyone to get outside and get a tan as well! It makes a difference from it raining always back at home.

Everyone leaves you alone and lets you get on with it, and all the lads stay together and you get no hassle form anyone and you can just concentrate on your training and getting everything together and ready for when you go back for the start of the season."

Michael Jackson, Shrewsbury Town FC Defender added:

"It has been exactly what we needed. The accommodation, facilities and training pitch has been excellent for what you need for this sort of thing you are trying to achieve. I have been on quite a few trips before and never one as good as this, so it's been excellent.'

The football pitch has been great, when you are training three times a day it needs to be right and it has. With the weather you get here you would think it would be absolutely as dry as a bone, but it's not, it's been really good and it's been a pleasure to play on it to be honest."

Dear Simon

On behalf of Mankiewicz, I would like to extend a very big thank you to you and your team for making our first Corporate Golf Event such a resounding success.

I have had the pleasure of attending many corporate golf events throughout the world but I have never experienced such a professional organisation as Desert Springs.

Kristina's attention to detail during the organisation of our event was outstanding, no matter what was asked for, it was taken care of. I don't believe "no" is in her vocabulary.

Desert Springs Corporate Hospitality Package really is quite remarkable.

We enjoyed excellent accommodation, outstanding cuisine, a wonderful and challenging golf course and friendly, helpful staff. Every one of our guests has since written to tell us how much they enjoyed their trip.

We have been so delighted with ourt first event that we have decided to make Desert Springs our permanent venue for the Mankiewicz Annual Golf Challenge.

We look forward to seeing you next year.

Yours sincerely

To: Crocodile Kids Club
Date: Monday 14th April, 2008

Hi Kristina,

Just thought I would drop you a line

We have just arrived home from our house at Desert Springs and our children are still buzzing about the great time had by all.  The children attended the children’s club provided by the Crocodile Club every day for 2 hours and thoroughly enjoyed their time.

Nick provided great fun for the children and has a really charming manner with them.   The children are still talking about the fun games and not to mention many hours of football organised by Nick.  Of course, we really appreciated the time too!!

Nick always had time for the children even when they managed to find him outside his normal working hours!  I know that other parents were also impressed by Nick's enthusiasm to provide a fun time for the children and am happy that it is continuing and is something to look forward to during our next stay in May.

Thank you and best wishes.

DESERT SPRINGS RESORT & GOLF CLUB

From: Robin Forrest
To: Desert Springs
Date: Sunday 17th February, 2008

What a place!!! Jenny and I were so impressed with all we saw, and I think we saw all of Desert Springs plus Villaricos and Playa Marques, thanks to Elvira.

We were met by Maria del Mar who kindly took us to our apartment with a very welcome bottle of bubbly suitable cooled in the fridge, many thanks. Thanks also for the beautiful meal at El Torrente, ably waited on by Ellie, as she also did most mornings at breakfast.

Peter Goodall also came to meet us one morning which I am sure was beyond the call of duty; with each member of staff we met we learned more about Desert Springs. They must all have dreaded the Forrest's arrival!!

The views are stunning, and we could see in all directions from our apartmnent. I don't think we did justice to the golf course, but I am sure we did our bit in the Crocodile Club! The Crocodile Club is a most amazing set up, the whole concept, suited to both young and old, from the bar itself to all the African input. Everyone was so friendly, both staff and residents; we played golf one day with Laurie and Betty Meldrum, who we had met previously in the club.

Hopefully we'll go back to Desert Springs again next year, and maybe even take some friends, as we both so enjoyed the experience. It was good of you to keep in contact with us while we were there.

Many many thanks for everything. We will be your Scottish Ambasadors!!

Love to you both

Robin and Jenny

In the past I was a well travelled European Tour Player of 12 years before becoming a European Tour coach and coach to National Teams for the past 15 seasons.

This is my first visit to Desert Springs and in my opinion if I add together the practice facilities, quality of the golf course, the catering, atmosphere, accommodation, character and friendly manner of the staff I certainly believe it to be the best facility in Spain I have come across and one of the best in the world.

It has been a great experience and I cannot wait to come back with the Welsh Ladies in a few weeks time.

Yours sincerely

DESERT SPRINGS RESORT & GOLF CLUB

From: Kevin Pratt
To: The Lodge
Date: Thursday 31st January, 2008

Dear Carmen,

On behalf of the Norfolk County Golf Union squad I would like to thank everyone at Desert Springs following our first warm weather training camp.

We found Desert Springs to be a perfect venue as the practise facilities are first class and the Indiana Course is a great test which quickly lets the players and coach see any weaknesses.

One the great things about staying on site was that there were few distractions and we found that the combination of this and the great facilities meant the players were fully focused on their golf.

The Crocodile club and the Club House looked after us very well throughout our stay and our accommodation was perfect and gave the players a bit of space if they wanted it.

We look forward to seeing you again next year when hopefully we will return with a larger group.

Your Sincerely,

Kevin Pratt (County Captain)

Golf Day

Steve,

Hope you are well, I thought I would drop you a line.  I’ve just returned from Deserts Springs with my wife, having had five fantastic days at the resort, meeting some lovely people, some who live on site permanently.  The golf course was terrific, made even better by the weather; some 75 degrees!

Thanks for the invitation to go out there, I will definitely go back to the resort for a break and would have no hesitation purchasing a property if I was looking to buy, which I may soon.

Again thanks a lot, I hope the charity is going well and hope you keep a slot for me in your golf day in July.

Many Thanks, IAN ATKINS

I am back at Sunderland working, doing all the overseas player recruiting,
it’s fantastic, I just hope they take a few in the window, to survive this season!

Thank you to you and all your staff for looking after us so well during our Partners' weekend at Desert Springs recently.

The excellent facilities and weather made sure that we had a wonderful and productive stay. Having the golf course and the excellent practise facilities 'on site' meant we had an easy outlet from our business meetings. It was enjoyed by all and I think most of the Partners would look forward to taking on the challenges of the Indiana Course again.

We hope we will be able to repeat the exercise in the future.

Date: Tuesday 6th March, 2007

Dear Simon,

I wish to thank you for all of your help and the collaboration afforded to us during the hosting of the 'Copa del Rey' last week. I believe that Desert Springs achieved the highest standards of the great golf clubs in all aspects.

I also want to congratulate you and Anthony, the course superintendent, for the magnificent condition of the golf course and its presentation. All the participants and officials were astonished by the condition and presentation of the course, which has gone on improving over the years.

Furthermore, I want to congratulate you for the superb team of personnel that you have managed to gather together. Both the girls from the Administration Office (Lina, Carmen & Mª del Mar) and the girls from Reception (Silvia, Maria & Dolores) were super and disposed to help with everything that was required. The Bar and Restaurant was also managed in a very professional way. At the caddy master, the driving range and the start, everything was very well organised by Victor and Nick.

In short, I think that the Championship has been a success as well as a good International showcase for Desert Springs, which I hope, will continue to contribute even further to the development of this part of Spain.

Suffice it to say that I look forward to returning soon. I want to reiterate my congratulations as well as my utmost and sincere thanks for all of your collaboration.

Hope you had a succesful trip to Madrid. I am just writing to thank you for everything you did for my family and me during our stay at Desert Springs; we really did have a fantastic time. The villa you sorted out was above and beyond what we expected and I know you had to move a few things around to get us in there so many thanks.

I really enjoyed your golf course; it is something you should be very proud of. It was great to meet you and enjoyed your company on the course although I don't think you need another black Desert Springs golf shirt!! If there is anything I can do for you or any of your projects please do not hesitate to ask. Once again many thanks.

Apologies for not contacting you sooner to say a HUGE thank you for making us so welcome last week at Desert Springs. I speak on behalf of all of us when I say we had a fantastic few days ... just what the doctor ordered as they say!

It's been the usual madness since returning back to the UK, but just looking back at the pictures reminds us all of the 3 days of peace and tranquillity on the golf course (with the odd stresses that come with golf!)

Many thanks again, hope to get chance to visit with Daley very soon.
